Pushing my SERP forward

Hi,
I have been working on a site for a company for 3 months trying to rank for highly competitive keywords like 'Video Conferencing' although i have obtained many links and optimized the site i have managed to jump from around position 90 to in the late top 20 although this is quite a drastic jump i need to push the site into the top 10 as fast as possible.

Im using all the regular techniques such as article submission, directory submission and online press submission as well as contacting sites to obtain links. While looking at competitors sites i see links from .edu and .gov sites which obviously hold more weight. How do you go about obtaining these sort of links, do you have to rent them if so which sites offer a good place to rent these sort of quality links?

Is purchasing these sort of links not the way to go? I'm trying to think of what i can do to push the site forward and into the top 10 as fast as possible.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Looks like you have a lot of work cut out for you. 45k backlinks on a PR7? Ouch.

The screen shot is from market samurai which is a paid tool. It is going to be very tough for you to beat these guys because they are all authority sites with great PR and a ton of backlinks. These backlinks would also be very good backlinks because a lot of backlinks are people voluntarily linking to them.

Those are pretty tough to replicate. Your best bet would be target something more specific like Video Conferencing in California or something like that. The competition might be stiff over there as well but it would be lesser than this general keyword.

Build a campaign for a less competitive keyword so you can start seeing traffic sooner. Once you have a stream of traffic from the less competitive keyword, go for the big one as your link building campaign for the bigger keyword will also help your secondary keywords.
