PureVPN Under Investigation???

If a government takes such action they will never allow provider to make this public or let them inform customers about what data they had to hand over. It's called a gag order. Obviously, this email must have been fake.

But how did a fake mail originate in the first place? How did they get the email ID's of PureVPN's customers?

yeah it was a fake email. some how i guess they got hacked or something

like said it was fake I got the follow up email. What really needs answering is if someone hacked there site to send the email could they get access to everyones personal details and scanned id. This is all anyone would need to setup fake accounts in your name carrying out and number of activities!!

It's not possible to hand over data if they don't keep logs.

The email may not have been fake.

Maybe the purevpn sent that email out, then got notified that it was illegal to make it public(gag order), and tried to fix it by claiming it was a fake email.... Check the raw headers on both messages and compare the IP ranges.

Also note, using VPNs for SEO is not illegal, there is nothing illegal in black hat SEO.

How did they got Purevpn's customer base emails? They got hacked, i guess. And they(PureVPN) are really hiding something from the customers!

I wonder why someone would hack their site and send out an e-mail to discredit them. They must have pissed someone off.

They didn't really sell it. It was taken. Though I doubt anything would be done with it. They got what they wanted, and customers are just little people who doesn't really matter. That is unless you didn't do something to get their attention.
