✎✎ PureHustle's 2017 Journey ✎✎

How do you split the ratio of your articles? I mean how many 'how to articles'/'review articles'/'informative articles' - I just named them like that so you can get the concept of my question. I hope you can understand it.

Hey man any news ? I am eager to see some updates.

Hey buddy - Nothing really too crazy to report.

-
Still recovering from http -> https change - Due to this my revenue is about $100 less this month compared to last month. However I'm seeing the site's traffic steadily increase weekly, and expect things to return to normal within the month.

-
Shift of focus - I'm shifting gears. SEO traffic is super nice, but i've learned throughout the years to never put all your eggs into one basket. That being said, I'm starting to focus my time and energy on growing a following on Twit/Pint/Insta

-
Email List? - I'm playing around with the idea of growing an email list for this site. However, at the end of the day it is an affiliate site and I dont want to push the email list and reduce sales/conversions. I'm still playing around with it, but i do believe i can effectively grow an email list offering some type of incentive, like giving away free items every month to random subscribers.

-
Outsourcing Content? - I'm considering hiring a writer (or team of) by the end of the year that can exponentially increase the amount of content across the site. Not ready to pull the trigger on this right now tho.

-
Off site SEO - I do plan on investing all previous revenue back into the business. I want to keep my hands clean and thus am planning on sticking with Guest posting and similar white-hat techniques.

Additionally, i've been busy trying to create another site that is an indirect competitor to the original site. that way I can grab more individuals who fall through the net and also reduce the amount of eggs i have in one basket.
So yea, a ton of stuff going on.

Sure - I totally get what you're asking.

There is no magic answer. People tend to forget that SEO is an art, not a science. There are no strict requirements that will make or break your success.

That being said, I dont really care about any ratio. The content topic is 100% driven by keyword research. If you find 2 keywords you can rank for, write 2. if you find 2000000, then write 2000000. You're not going to get slapped by google if you have a a ratio of 'how to' or 'review' articles. hope this makes a little sense.

Final Update:

I've reached my goal for this journey.
The site is making $500/mo on auto-pilot and I've barely scratched the surface. Of course, I'll continue growing this site until i dominate my niche.

Thank you to everyone who followed along. Its been a wild 9 months and I'm excited to see where this site will be in another 9.

Hahaha..Congrat Man Pure Hustle

Awesome journey. If you could breakdown the traffic source, how many % of it coming from social? I just have impression that the social didn't generate much traffic.

Interesting journey, absolutely shows that determination is a significant part of your path to success, congrats!

Currently living on a shoestring budget, so expensive SEO services turned me off. I've been building links naturally and trying out a few services to see if they meet my needs and standards.

Building Links Naturally, Are these Guest Posts or Just comments? Because you said you're not building something expensive.

There were a few things I did that you can and should consider doing.

  • Press Releases - These are high quality, affordable, and get you a ton of exposure.
    • You can use fiverr or buy a service here on bhw. (I bought 2 fiverr gigs and purchased a service here on bhw)
  • Create High Quality Web 2.0's - Throw in a little elbow grease and build out a couple dozen of these.
  • Relevant blog comments - goal here is niche relevancy & a high quality + helpful comment
  • BHW Begger Method - I've been doing this for a few years, yet i have yet to see anyone else talk about it.
    • Contact a few BHW sellers and ask if there are any review copies available in exchange for a honest review. While working on this journey, I was able to get a free press release, free expired web 2.0s, a few free guest posts, and more. Its a win-win for you and the seller. just be sure to do your research on the seller.

Between doing all these things, you'd be surprised how much you can increase your Ref. Dom/Pa/Da/Exposure.

Hope This Helps :)

Awesome to see you succeed. I have read your different journey threads over the years and this one has worked out because you stuck with it. It would be cool if you were still updating it every month even though you reached your goal :)

Good luck!

@karupoiss Thanks for being a long-time follower.

To be honest there isny much to talk about besides boring stuff.

I've got a few more journey ideas so stay tuned.

Well yeah, just updates like you have done thus far are awesome for motivations. A months period is long enough to see some changes and it motivates and gives hope/encouragement for rest of us to see that it pays off if you have faith, income reports, traffic reports, articles and if any SEO was done.

UPDATE

Hey gang, wanted to provide one last update here on this thread.

Preamble:
For those who didn't read my journey, I built an azon affiliate site. I reached my goals (500 a month)

Update:
My site was riding well, generating passive income.

But, it appears that google it tightening its grip on azon affiliate sites. I got hit was a shitty "PURE SPAM" manual action - which blew my mind. I had a ton of content on the site and wasnt doing any cloaking/shady shit. Pretty much a kick to the nuts - hundreds of hours of work just for this to happen.

I've been fighting Google for reindexation for over a month now - they're quite unhelpful. They've rejected me twice now, with the last rejection providing zero explanation why. 500 words on each page doesn't seem to be enough now.

Maybe I'm a rare scenario, but it seems that google is clamping down on azon sites. If you wanna stay in the game you gotta really put in the effort.

So, high level, for those who are starting out, start adding a shit ton of content to all your pages. (I'd say 1k words per post) and by content, i mean REAL content, not fluff.

It sucks. I've suffered from this update as well.

They are definitely clamping down on thin websites. 500 words articles is not enough anymore. 1-2k seems to be what they favor the most, meaning we have to adapt to this new way and make it work or fall behind.

Bro glad to hear im not the only one. Seems to be a topic no one is discussing. Best of luck

There has to be some favoritism going on with Google. I see A LOT of sites that don't even have 200 words ranking which is pathetic. Maybe they're just retarded. Nonetheless, think of this as an opportunity to come up. You already seen results with what you did. Do it differently and multiply, always have a backup site or two!
