✎✎ PureHustle's 2017 Journey ✎✎

Update #3.5

  • Roughly 90K words on the site
  • Proper inner-linking + site speed optimization
  • Did some basic blog comments on some authority sites in my niche (found from competitors).
  • Built a total of 18 new links that I will view as parasite pages. Will be hammering each link with GSA.
    • This includes social media pages, a handful of Web 2.0, some satellite pages, Link shortners, etc.
Will keep adding content but focusing on link-building moving forward. Rankings are shit, but I expect them to slowly climb once the link-juice kicks in.

SEO Gameplan moving forward:

  • Multiple Press Releases (Homepage/Category pages)
  • Expired Web 2.0's and using multiple 301's and blasting with GSA (5-10 per category page)
  • Creating additional tiers with RankerX in the near future, to many of the above mentioned links
  • PBN's to home/category for increased authority throughout the site
  • Page-specific PBNs down the road.
  • Sift through more competitor links and steal them.

@Nargil was kind enough to throw me a few expired Web 2.0's and they should really help increase the site's TF/CF. The stats are great!

ITS TIME TO LEVEL UP MY SITE!

Update #3.75

The site now has over 100k words!!!! WOOOHOOOOO! The site is still a baby and has potential for millions of words. As said in my first post, this is a long-term project that i expect to make money for years on end. I'm not interested in any blackhat SEO services at this point.

I'll keep adding content to the site, and backlinking from time to time. I'm noticing how difficult it can be to get GSA links indexed (tier 2 and 3).

The site is still a baby, only a few months old. I suspect that once the site hits around 6 months old and the articles on the website begin to age a bit, they'll be trusted more and more.

Revenue is tiny at this point. not even
$5.

Update #4

The site is coming along here. Few things on the "To-Do List" for this month including:
- Doing some offsite SEO (manual and buying a few small packages)
- Add a CDN to the site
- Continue to pump out content

I made around $5 this month which is great. Not too shabby for very little SEO work done thus far.

Wow, great work in pumping out content so far. I actually did kind of reverse what you did. At around 30k words, I started doing a lot more off-site such as building PBN sites, web 2.0, outreach, etc, that I didn't really have much time to pump out content. Now, I'm at around 50k words and earning around a few bucks a week. I'm motivated by your progress with your content that I'm going to start writing more now, good luck on your off-site campaign!

Update 4.5
I'm still hustling to get this site built out. Slowly making progress each and every day.

What I've Done so far This Month:

  • Switched to a Faster Host
    • This turned into a nightmare and caused more headaches than I'd previously experienced moving to a new host.
  • Locked Down the Site
    • I experienced a huge rush of IP's trying to get into the site. Brute force, trying all types of things to get in. Best advice i can give: (1) move your login url, (2) integrate captcha into your login forms, (3) backup your site often.
  • Pump Out Content
    • I've been finding myself struggling staying consistent in posting content on the site after work. I've since dropped the bar to a minimum of 1 post per day.
  • Get some backlinks to the Site
    • Currently living on a shoestring budget, so expensive SEO services turned me off. I've been building links naturally and trying out a few services to see if they meet my needs and standards.
    • There seems to be a direct correlation between SEO focus and boost in revenue.

I was feeling a little discouraged after 3 months of working on the site and seeing less than $1.00 revenue for the countless hours. It seems to be that the hard work is starting to pay off and the boulder is starting to pick up speed and momentum rolling down the hill.

Update #5

Welp, We're now 4 months into this project. The boulder is starting to pick up momentum. This month has been hella crazy and I’ve unfortunately been falling behind on my goal of 1k words per day added to the site. However, the # of visitors and revenue is jumping up quite quickly.

SEO:
I invested a small amount of money on a few SEO services and spent some time doing some manual work. Nothing too crazy to report. I’m not touching any PBN’s yet and not sure if I’ll ever touch them honestly.

Adding Content:

Revenue:
I’m not going to disclose the revenue earned at this time. Dont worry its not much. However, each consecutive month the site is generating exponentially more revenue. For example, we're barely into this month and I've already earned more than last months total amount. This is mostly due to luck still as I don’t have many #1-5 positions yet.

May End Update [#6]

Overview:
This month has been super busy for me. Excuses aside, I'm not real happy with my progress. Overall, the site is making progress slowly. The beauty of this site is that i havent invest much money at all. I've invested maybe like $100 on the entire site so far. This includes themes, premium extensions, and a few various SEO packages. The site has a ton of potential - especially once i start investing heavily in the SEO for the site.

Posted Content:
This month, I didnt even hit 10,000 words. I find this quite embarrassing.

Revenue:
The site is continuing to generate more and more revenue each and every month. At this point, sales really arnt too consistent I believe i've just gotten lucky thus far. Truth be told, i dont really hold any real rankings yet, so its more or less been random chaos up until this point. I do suspect that my luck will run out and thus i really need to find the time and $$ to focus on the SEO on the site.

Goals for this Month:
- Get back into the routine of posting content on the site on a regular basis. At a bare minimum i should be hitting 15k words a month
- On-Site SEO: Image SEO can and should be improved, inner-linking (not using a plugin, but using contextual links in the pages) needs to be added. 0-3 links for each post.
- Figure out a way that i can consistently invest in the site's SEO.
- Figure out a concrete structure for my posts. Over the past few months, the formats have changed quite a bit. The site needs to remain a consistent feel i think.

Hey loving the journey so far. Just had a quick question. Where do you get your word count stats? Are you using a plugin?

I think what you need more at this juncture is to syndicate more of the contents on social media platforms. That will bring extra traffic and backlinks as well . On the long run help your website ranking. If you are on a budget, check out syndranker.com but if you have some money to throw around, Syndwire.com is the way to go.
Good luck on your journey!

In posts before, you said that you are not touching blackhat SEO and then you said that you ordered some SEO packages? Why?

And good luck. I personally would never add so much content without doing SEO on them, but we all have our own style. I hope you will start to rank and bank hard.

Hey bud - I use a plugin called word stats. Its pretty cool actually.

Thanks for posting your thoughts. Believe it or not, I have been sharing my content on various social media platforms not limited to FB, Twitter, Pinterest, google +, and even stubleupon. Maybe i've just had bad luck, but i havent seen much benefit at all from any of this. I'll take a look at your recommendations though. Thanks!

Good luck on your journey mate.

Thanks bud

Hey Mate, I'm still not touching blackhat SEO. I've ordered a few foundational SEO services like press releases, web 2.0, etc. Nothing really blackhat. I've never really done an authority site, so i'm still learning as i go.

Truth be told, I have virtually zero $$ to invest in this project thus far, hence why I have done so little on the SEO side of things. However, SEO is the gameplan for sure in the long-haul.

You keep mentioning "doing SEO for your pages". What exactly does this mean?

Hey bud - On-site and off-site seo. read through my previous posts to get a better understanding.

keep us posted mate, i took some of your steps and want to apply them to my website :D
