90% of ones you find on lists are already closed down by the time you get to them. 90% of the ones left aren't actually anonymous. 90% of the ones left of those are already identified as proxies on all of the good websites. And the ones that are left are usually too slow to bother with. There has got to be an easier way.

I don't think I can afford an aircard yet, but I'm thinking I'll get one soon. I'm either looking for a system to get reliable public proxies without wasting too much time or I'm looking for a private proxy company that I can get with the lousy $25 left in my paypal account.

Any advice would be helpful. I'm currently using charon, proxyfirewall, TOR, and free lists off of forums like BHW, vsocks forum, and proxyfire.

By the way, great forum. I'm looking forward to combining my white hat ways with a little black hatness to make grey hat magic. Then sharing the wealth.

Where exactly are you having a problem with the method I posted?

    Hi apekillape,
First, I want to thank you for posting that guide to proxies. It's great. I was able to get up and going with it.

Here is my problem though, If I paste your list of proxies on BHW or the list I find on those forums, charon will eliminate about 3/4 of them.

Then, proxyfirewall eliminates most of the others. I was left with only a few proxies and out of those, only two were fast enough to work with and only one of them had not been already identified as a proxy and put on some proxy list that I'm assuming that many sites subscribe to. And the only I could use was soon identified about 12 hours later.

    What am I doing wrong?

-Is there software that I need to search forums for lists?
-Do I need to go to irc or somewhere else to find a good list of proxies?
-Do I need to join a special group that has a special list of proxies?
-Is there some other piece of software that I need or do I need to pay for proxy lists?
-Should I get a membership to a private proxy company?
-Specifically, I'm looking for a regular supply of IPs that I can use on sites like CL and Yaho*o

Also, on some forums I find large lists of proxies but they have several columns of things like their country of origin, so you can't just copy and paste them onto notepad without having to do a lot of hand-editing to eliminate everything but the the IPs.

Sorry if I sound like I need spoon-feeding, I'll be happy to repay in kind when I get the chance.

Don't worry about it at all man, I started the exact same way.

If you have a slower connection than I do, or you live much further away, the same proxies won't do you much good. You should take a bunch of lists from multiple users and check them all, you end up with a stronger list for yourself that way by cross-pollinating that way. I start with like a thousand or two and end up with 200 by the end if I'm lucky.

If you're finding lists with extra info on the end, you can use Proxyfire (from proxyfire.net) to filter the whole thing. Just save those lists into a text file, open the "Filter" column, click "Import" and select the txt file. Click Filter and it'll give you the same list, minus all the chaff.

You can also use Proxyfire to hunt and leech proxies on your own, like I do. There're several tutorials for that on the proxyfire forum.
