Public Blog Network De-indexed

I have a question regarding the use of public blog networks, I this is a newbie kind of question so please bear with me for a moment. Say I was to use the services of a Public Blog Network and that particular network was to be outed and de-indexed what would happen to my own website. Would I just loose the links or worse would i be hit with a manual spam action by google? I was really curious to hear from others on this issue, did anyone face this issue before? I guess ideally building my own private blog network would be the way to go. Even then though if my network were to get hit would this cause some sort of spam penalty or would it just be a loss of backlinks?

I've faced this issue before. In some cases the site was hit directly with a penalty, but in other cases the site simply lost rankings because the domains where deindexed.

When buildmyrank.com was taken down i lost 90% of my 150 local nice websites that i used BMR in within a week, so i would say if it is real big player you will get nuked too, it is really easy for Google to so, just follow every outgoing link and trash the site.

You would be better of to build your own PBN, that is really P (for private) there is a lot of info here on how to build one yourself, in the end you will be saving a lot of $$$ from these crappy BST sellers with shitty blogs that are only good for tier 2 and not having your site banned.

If the majority of the links you had was from network, and they were lowquality with keywords in anchors you will likely get manual spam action. If there were just a little number of such links, they wont hurt. In some cases you will loose rankings because you lost links

What's a public blog network?

The P in PBN is for private for a reason: nobody's supposed to share it with you and nobody knows you own all the sites.

I remember a time when public blog networks were really "IN" (BMR/ALN) and when they got wiped out, a lot of sites dropped.

However, these days, I've seen domains used for linking (private/public blog networks) and deindexed, and the sites they were linking to only lost the gains from the initial linking. Now I don't know how that would work if those domains had 50+ posts, but with 5-6 you should be fine.
