Running a node doesn't secure your crypto any more than having a cold wallet.
I'm also referring to CExs, not only public wallets. Plus, with publis wallets, it has happened that people have been rug pulled in the past even if they have "their keys". The reason? SOmetimes public wallets keep the keys and they used them to rug pull users.
Plenty of examples in the past
People run nodes for rewards.
Not necessarily. I'm running several nodes from BTC, LTC, XMR, ETH and TRX to accept payments and none pay me rewards. I do run them to accept payments on my sites as well as keep everything in private. NO need to use third party wallets
There's no increase in security.
you avoid security holes. It's extra caution
Im losing braincells here and now.
1. Nodes are for rewards
2. Running RPC is expensive
3. Dont mix centralized bs like USDT with general use of crypto dynamics.
4. Nobody can take your crypto unless they have your keys.
1. not necessarily
2. not true. i bought a nice last-gen server to run my nodes for a few thousands. Expensive isn't. I do this for my business where i make more than that. It's an investment in privacy, security and payment processing
3. bro, if you hold USDT or similar tokens with smart contracts that have "clawback" functions, the smart contract creators can take your tokens for any reason. THis is why there have been usdt take downs by police
4. please read about usdt smart contracts and similar tokens. the smart contract creators can take your tokens (ONLY smart contracts that have the clawback feature like usdt).
Now, obviously, there are chains where they can't take your tokens, like BTC, LTC, XMR, ETH, TRX, but eth and trx's smart contracts can have functions to take your tokens.
THe point is, stay more private and secure by running your nodes.
i know you guys love to do kyc and show everyone your info, but there are guys like me that like to keep things more private and secure.
By rUnning my nodes, i make sure a wallet site can't fake or take my keys, plus i keep more private info and have more security overall.
i mean,
@splishsplash i know you are a guy that loves to show your face and do kyc everywhere and have little to no concept of privacy, but I think it should be a great start.
Anyway, guys, take it or leave it. Just my humble opinion.
Peace and love!
