Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. (SCE) has finally revealed the long rumored PS3 Super Slim during their TGS conference which will be part of the CECH-4000 series. The PS3 Super Slim has a brand new design, a slimmer form factor and will be available charcoal black and classic white.The PS3 Super Slim will be available in three models; two with internal hard drives of 250GB and 500GB with the third on sporting 12GB of flash memory which many were presuming was a typo when rumored a few weeks ago.
Sony revealed that the PS3 Super Slim has been completely redesigned internally, during the weight by almost half compared the original PS3 and 25% smaller and 25% lighter compared to the ?older slim?. The new PS3 features a sliding disk cover requiring you manually put in and eject the disk instead of sliding them in, similar to the PS2 Super Slim?s disk cover.
As mentioned earlier the new PS3 received a major storage boost with the 160GB being replaced by a 250GB version and the 320GB PS3 being replaced with the 500GB version. The 12GB Super Slim PS3′s storage can be increased via a 250GB HDD Sony will be planning to release along with the console. We?re not sure if these HDDs can be user replaced with higher capacity units but if the older PS3s are any indication they should be able to.
In Japan the Black PS3 Super Slim will be available on October 4th with the White model hitting stores November 22nd. Prices for Japan are 24,900 Yen (tax incl.) for the 250GB version launching October 4th and 29,800 Yen (tax incl.) for the 500GB version launching on October 30th.
In North America the 250GB version will be available on September 25th and include Uncharted 3 GOTY edition and $30 ?digital content? voucher for DUST 514 retailing for $270, the 250GB version without the game and voucher will retail for $250. The 500GB bundle will include a copy of Assassin?s Creed III and a 30 day PSN+ voucher and go on sale in the US on October 3rd.
In European regions instead of the 250GB Sony will be selling the aforementioned 12GB version for ?230 launching October 12th with the 500GB version being available for ?300 on September 25th.

Sony are retarded lol... I mean if your going to release a new PS3 which you call "Super Slim", make sure it's actually "SUPER" slim and not like a few inches smaller with pretty much the same volume. The new way the console just slides open looks like somebody in the tech department had a PS1 nostalgia moment and decided lemme shove it on the PS3.. I'll be surprised if people fork out any money for this because it does not really have any advantage over the older PS3's apart from weight.. which let's be frank does not matter unless you use your consoles for weight lifting.

Simply put stick to a FAT model. (More advantages)..

Only plus could be maybe there's a smaller chance of failiure rates on this due to removing the sliding mechanism.

Here's the thing... I own an xbox 360 and ps3. Now I don't play games like cod/halo... only games I play are the 10 - 15 min escapes like nba 2k12, madden 12, ufc, baseball and some boxing... not even stuff like God of War...

And let me tell you something, the ps3 blows xbox 360 or any other console out of the water. Like straight up, I can see the FUCKING beads of sweat on kobe bryant's forehead (no homo) when he's pulling up for a jumper.

They'll come out with another system when the competition catches up.
 
Very expensive I think... now you can buy a PS3 for less than 200€
 
I'm not impressed at all. I own a ps3 and the only game I play on it is BF3. When it comes down to the xbox vs the ps3, the ps3 has better graphics. But overall I would rather play BF3 on a PC because the multiplayer servers hold 64 players instead of the sub par 24 on consoles. Also, DUST 514 beta is terrible. I know it is a beta but is still very shoddy for something so close to its release date. The graphics and UI definitely need work, and I'm sure it will improve; however, the game-play is not simulating in the least bit. It is a good concept though, I like the idea of making it free to play.

Maybe storage is a big deal for some people, but I think most of us would much rather see an upgrade to the gpu/cpu/ram. I could care less how slim it is... I'm not bringing my gaming console to a coffee shop or into work. It sits on a shelf under my TV... and when I do move it, it goes back into the box from destination to destination.

LOL U MaD BrO?.. think about it.. the wii U barely beats the PS3 in the graphics department.. let me remind you the PS3 is 6 years old and the Wii-U does not look that much better if better than a 6 year old PS3.. now Imagine the PS4 (which most likely will be out next year).. that's gunna blow "the competition" (The Wii-U) out of the water.

Update: Analyst claims the PS4 could be released in 2014, a year after the Xbox 720 and two years after Nintendo's Wii U.

"Sony CEO Kaz Hirai said: "We are not making any announcements at E3." He also supported the ten year life span of the console saying that he "Always said a ten year life cycle for PS3, and there is no reason to go away from that.""

Oh I'll buy em all... the best way I've found is to actually buy the console and the games you want to play and try it out for yourself.

Like for x360 I have all the 2k11's... nba, nfl, ufc, boxing and I compared them to the 2k11's on ps3... graphics killed on ps3 so I didn't buy any of the 2k12 titles for x360 just because I had a feeling it would be similar to what happened the year before.

Gonna do the same thing for x720 and Wii U and ps4, buy em and see whats best. Also I think I mentioned earlier that I just play for 10 - 15 mins so online gameplay not an issue for me.

Holy shit I am so out of gaming that I didn't even know a new generation of systems are coming out.

This coming from a guy who waited in line to buy N64 with super mario for like $400 in the 90s lol.

Bro I am actually happy about the PS3 having a ten year life cycle.. I want the PS4 to come out later on, 2014 sounds perfect to me.. I still think the PS3 has alot to give. LOL about the specs of the PS4 I actually read about them when SONY did release some info about them in a E3 event.. it was rough info but the power especially in the graphics department was beastly.. trust me the Wii U stands no chance.
