What's your opinion on running xp/sp1 in a virtual machine?
Does it still have the same scanning capabilities?

Yeah I'll give it a shot in VMWare running XPSP1 on a WIN7.

Why do you run a virtual machine with XP/SP2?

thats easy, my skype needs min sp2 and wont install on main os xp/sp1
and saves me logging to my other machine to do it

I installed SP1 on vmware last night, well see how it goes.

the thing about ip ranges, those who have them wont share them
saves them getting saturated , means doing like the rest of us, finding them

I have a lot of ranges from my previous unrelated to IM hobbies, I was just curious if you were able to provide me with 1 range that is a sure thing for concrete testing.

I've scanned over 5,000 in the past 24hours at :1080 on VMWare.
PS: VMWare + XP SP1 on Windows 7 works for scanning.



My next hurtle:
When I converted the :1080's to :6588 -- none of them worked in SB.
When I tested them in PF, a majority worked but gave me ports such as :8080 & :80

I'm a bit confused as to why it did not work, could you offer me any insight or point me towards some literature?
 
when i posted 1080 > 6588 trick was a year or 2 ago
probably might not work now or only on a few , i gave up socks scanning
in 2006 when it died, i remember 2002/2005 getting thousands everyday
it slowly died a slow death. never bothered since

now i just scan http proxies dont take it personal giving away old socks ranges
i havnt used in 10 yrs is no biggy, giving away HTTP ranges which are sought after
is another story people just wont for saturation reasons.

you dont get to 20k GSCRAPER PROXIES and 4k SCRAPEBOX PROXIES by handing
out where u scan, be like committing suicide

xp/sp1 works best , as xp/sp1 has no tcp limitations , xp/sp2 has a tcp block built in the sp2
this can be unlocked to 30% with a patch but not sufficient for working.
i have trie this on win 7 and found tcp port scanning is terrible , i would guess its same on
win8
