Proxy/VPS/Dedicated Server Uses?

So I have been doing some searching on google and read the purpose of proxies themselves and the difference between shared/private..

My question is in what situations would you use a proxy? A VPS? and a Dedicated Server?

I still have not looked at what VPS or Dedicated Servers are and how they work, what I am mostly interested in is their purposes in Internet Marketing.

-Proxy is used to hide you real IP. Usually blackhatters use it with SEO tools to avoid any IP flag issue
-VPS is just a computer which you can access through remote desktop connection. The computer can be located anywhere in the world(US, Germany, France) and you can get 1 GBPS speed. Quite handy to run SEO tools without getting your home connection bandwith clogged.
-Dedicated Server - Its same as VPS but more powerful. This I think you can google and get the answer.

By seo tools you mean things like scrapers, bots etc?

You can use proxies private and shared proxies from your PC without using a VPS or a Dedicated Server ...
The proxies are used regularly, to hide identity, to bypass restrictions, on social campaigns like twitter, instagram, facebook, youtube, for scraping, for posting on forums, for creating ads on craigslist etc ...
VPS - virtual private server, this is created on a dedicated server and is a virtual machine, i assume you would be interested in windows vps, and you will get an connection ip, an user and a password, and you can use remote desktop connection from windows to connect to it, and you can use it like is your pc ...
Dedicated server: is a full complete machine that can have multiple VPS installed on it, and of course you can have it with windows installed ...

For beginning you can start using proxies directly on your pc, or you can use vmware to create multiple virtual machines directly on your pc
