Proxy usage

Sup BHW, can someone please explain what are the proxies used for? Have been doing mainly white hat SEO, recently joined BHW and I see so many posts about proxies. Never ever heard about proxy usage in my IM experience before.

I understand the concept of proxies and what they do, but I just don't understand how they can be applied to make money.

Is it black hat SEO? Social media marketing?

What am I missing out on?

Proxies are used to get an IP of another location other than the location of the IP of your ISP, to put it in simple words.
People use proxies for various reasons, such as web scrapping, creation of social media accounts, etc, etc.

Can you please elaborate on web scrapping? Like a usage example? And what about the social accounts? For botting?

Proxy servers are used by web scrapers to disguise their IP and make their traffic appear to be that of regular users. Internet users use proxies to view websites that are restricted by their country's censorship system or to secure their personal data online. Since VPNs are datacenter fixed IPs, they can be easily detected, while true residential and mobile proxies are much more trustworthy to websites.

It depends in what you are trying to achieve, in this case that you have not used at all a proxy or VPN because that is optional white SEO use normal or legal steps let's call it like that to rank your site, black hat SEO are methods that migh get you in trouble, scrapping, backlinks, bots, everything takes you to the same point rank your website one more legal than the other one or instead of legal that you rank according the rules.

In a nutshell proxy it's an IP address, so you can use this Ip address to create some new accounts on platforms you need, scrape data, bots and a lot of other staff. They are useful in any case when you need to manage more accounts and bypass some websites limitation
