  1. What are most common use cases of proxies other than scraping?
  2. What are proxy types high in demand among Residential, Mobile , Datacenter or ISP? Or if I missed something to mention, you mention it :)
  3. What people prefer when using proxy - username: password or with IP whitelisting?
  4. Why most of the new threads in our forum related to Proxies not doing well? I checked many recent posts and I see this :)

Each type of proxy has a right to exist — it all depends on the task for which you are choosing the proxy. Sometimes it's better to use rotating mobile proxies, and other times you can get by with static datacenter proxies.
 
Like with everything else, for no. 3 it really depends.
Going with the login creds just makes it faster to use across different networks without having to update the whitelisted IPs, if that's something you work with.
IP whitelisting is cleaner and a bit more secure in controlled setups (like fixed servers), but it gets inconvenient fast if your IP isn’t static.
One's more flexible in a way, the other is more stable. Off the top of my head, that's my idea of it.

I think one reason is pricing vs reliability expectations. Many users care more about stable performance than just low cost, so if a thread doesn’t clearly show consistent results, it usually doesn’t get much engagement.
 
Most common are social media automation, sneaker botting, and ad verification. Residential and Mobile are high demand right now because they look like real users. Datacenter is mostly for fast scraping. Most people prefer user:pass because it’s easier to manage if you have rotating IPs.

Most guys use proxies for social media multi accounting, sneaker copping, and scraping data without getting blocked. Residential and mobile proxies are the most in demand because they look like real users, while datacenter ones are cheaper but get flagged way faster. People tend to prefer IP whitelisting for static setups at home or on a server, and username password auth for flexibility when working from multiple locations. Honestly, the reason proxy threads aren't doing well is because everyone and their mom is selling the same low quality resold IPs, so the market is completely flooded with junk. If you want a setup that actually works without wasting money, grab clean residential proxies from FloppyData and run them inside Gologin to keep your fingerprints separate. Use Iphey to double check your setup for leaks before you start working with any new provider.
 
Beyond scraping the biggest use cases are social media account management, ad verification, and brand monitoring. Residential leads in demand because platforms got way better at IP scoring — datacenter still works fine for bulk scraping where block rates are acceptable, ISP proxies hit the sweet spot when you need better trust scores without paying mobile prices. User:pass wins for rotating pools, IP whitelisting makes more sense for static dedicated IPs sitting on a fixed server.
 
Honestly, people mostly use proxies for stuff like managing accounts, checking things from different locations, running ads, or just staying a bit more private. Residential and mobile are the most in demand since they blend in better, while datacenter is more about speed. ISP is kind of in the middle. Most people lean toward IP whitelisting since it’s just easier, but login/password still has its place. As for the threads, it’s probably just that there’s so much of the same thing being posted that people don’t really pay attention anymore.

manage multiple accounts, ads, market research, sneaker/ticketing, etc. Too many use cases, as long as you need to change your IP address, you can look for proxy

Residential proxy is still the safest overall (high trust, low ban rate)

username:password is the most popular
 
its mostly for social media. and the popular ones are mobile proxies. the proxy credentials usually show the server/port/login/pass
. what do u mean by not doing well?

I haven’t been here for a while myself, so I’m not sure whether there really is a drop in activity. But if there is, I’d link it to the rise and development of AI models.

Before, when people had questions or ran into problems, they would go to forums.
Now it’s quicker and feels more reliable (???) to just ask AI instead.

I think that’s how people might see it.
 
Most common outside scraping is still multi-accounting. ISP is the “safe default” since it gives the best stability for social media.
 
Most people like using user: pass as its easier to manage . Proxies can be use for reselling , social media , seo and more. Residential and mobile proxies are the most popular due to their ability to rotate and the quality of the ip. It appears as a regular user compared to a static dc proxy which appears as a vpn / proxy online.
