I have bought a residential proxy and set it up on firefox, i can access many websites such as google, FB, YT however, i can't access any website related to checking the IP location such as whoer, whatismyip, etc....

Does anyone know what could be the problem?

Perhaps proxy you purchased is "social-media only". Some providers offers such proxies for a good price. tradeoff is that websites/apps you can open and use are limited to social media sites only.

Not really sure what that means or the disadvantages of using social media proxies!!

It's odd not to be able to access any website to check the IP but can access all other websites.

"social-media only" means u can access only social media sites. Try checking on some random websites.

I have already checked and i can access amazon, ebay, wikipedia,
Tried to access namecheap but didn't work.
Anyway it doesn't matter,, atleast i can access the platform i want. but i just want to check the ip stats such as on whoer. is there a way to check it?

Yes if they're social media only then it makes sense but they should still enable a website or two that allow you to check the IP.

Yes, they are probably social media only, but what websites can i use to check the IP?

Looks like you are using "Social Media Only" proxy. I would suggest you to try speed test websites. Sometimes they also provide IP and DNS address.

Your proxy provider may have restricted the list of resources that you can access. But it is possible that you are using IPv6 proxy format, because this proxy format has problems with access to most sites, because not all services support it. But almost all major sites like google, youtube, facebook and others work fine. So, maybe you have been sold not a proxy type you wanted. Try to change your provider and check if you have the same problem with other proxies, then it will be clear what the problem is.
