Proxy Programs Rendering Direct Connection Useless?

Hey guys,

I bought Proxy Switcher years ago and it was working perfectly up until the last couple of weeks. I also downloaded Elite Proxy Switcher and purchased a list, but the same thing happens. After scanning the proxy lists part way through it's as if my direct net connection gets compromised and even after closing the Proxy programs I am unable to use my direct net connection. At first I thought it was a Site (or more) where Proxies were downloaded from (In Proxy Switcher), but after process of elimination that just doesn't seem to be what is causing this sudden pain in the a$$. Moreover, I switched from exploiting free trials of NOD32 to purchasing Kaspersky Internet Security a few months ago, but up until a couple weeks ago whatever is happening never happened before. I didn't change any setting or anything so I don't think it's Kaspersky, but....maybe they changed some sh1t IDK.

Anyway, have any of you experienced this?
My backlinking strategy is practically at a stand still, so any input would be greatly appreciated.

If I would be you I'd reinstall Windows and all the software. It seems like there's something wrong but it might be anything because if I understood correctly you haven't been properly protected from viruses, attacks and stuff...

Virus protection, firewalls and other security stuff are those things you should invest money in and not go the easiest way (download free software or use cracked versions). It's vital for your business to have a clean working computer which is not secretly part of a zombie network or is filled with viruses etc.

Thanks for the response. The entire time I've had NOD32 installed, what was happening recently never once happened when using proxy programs before (Well over a years time). It wasn't until a few months after switching to Kaspersky Internet Security that my direct net connection started getting compromised after running scans on these proxy programs. So the last few days I've been relentlessly diggin around in Kaspersky's Firewall/Application Control Settings, but I'm unable to restrict either proxy program without sacrificing either programs functionality.
e.g.
After exhausting practically every logical rights and restriction settings to no avail. I decided to give each proxy program rights to everything (Read,Write,Delete,Create..everything allowed through and through) EXCEPT blocking each proxy program's right of "Changing object access rights" - but both of the proxy programs were then totally useless (which makes absolutely no sense). So maybe it's a bug in Kaspersky or perhaps Kaspersky is genuinely just not able to properly restrict either of these proxy programs without restricting functionality. Whatever the case, at this point I totally regret switching from NOD32 to Kaspersky :/

Just installed Service Pack 2 on Vista the other day and it stopped happening (so far anyway). Not sure what that's all about or what happened in the first place. I just hope it doesn't start happening again, because it took annoying to a whole new level.
