Free proxies won't be live for very long at all, sometimes just a few minutes.
Your options are to use a tool to harvest and check them so you can use the lists it spits out or to register for one of the premium lists where someone else does all the harvesting and checking for you. Both have their pros and cons and either would likely be cheaper than private proxies if you plan to do lots of searching in Google.
