Proxy and instazood question

I'm new to setting up proxies and am currently about to purchase a monthly plan. Reading the set up FAQ it says that I need to set it up using instazood? I don't want any follow/unfollow apps or bots linked to my account as I'm just trying to work out some kinks I'm experiencing. Do I need something like Jarvee or Instazood just to use a proxy?? Thanks
