Right so I'm an newbie, I understand the concept of proxies. Been surfing the web learn what I can about proxies. Basically I wish to understand and use them.

Can anyone recommend good place where I can learn more about this?

Here's the basic of proxies:

Use public proxies at your own risk. Not all public proxy has been left open by an innocent webmaster. Many set proxy up for malicious purposes such as to steal users personal data such as login credentials.

You should avoid as well so called botnet proxy providers, very dangerous because those guys codes a virus and infected machine will act as a proxy and more likely will also steal any personal data entered while using the proxy.

Commonly port 80 proxies are the fastest due to a majority of those proxies are hosted on decidated server.

Depending on your anonyminity needs; If you want hight anonymous proxy, use SOCKS 4 or 5 proxy. Most of those proxies support CONNECT method atleast to port 443 (SSL).

That's it, this was a quick tour :)

Ah cool, thanks for the quick tour. I'm a beginner and this actually helped. I see many proxie list here would you recommend using them?

As long as you don't use them with your browser and esp. not to login anywhere you will be fine with any kind of malicious proxies.

Most tools use them to simply download the source code of webpages so nothing ever gets actually executed. There are exceptions but it's all irrelevant if you are using virtual machines as you should.

Another thread that could be helpful:

I would like to upload videos on youtube...therefore the question is which proxies should I look for (buy)?

Thanks!

If you want to get all out of public proxies, those lists will need constant testing. Maybe BH is expection but when you look around other proxy forums, many just post those list blindly without testing and results are those so called '1k working SSL proxy'.

Therefore I don't give any recommendation on which list to use.
