Proxies. Not really sure what I'm doing.

I realize that in creating backlinks I am supposed to be using proxies. Now since I am just starting out I need to use free tools if it can be helped (at least up until the point I start making a decent amount of money). The only software I've purchased so far is Scrapebox because I couldn't find a good free substitute and everyone is always raving about it here.

So I tried hidemyass and when I go to whatismyip .com I get the following message:

Welcome to the CoDeeN HTTP CDN Service!
You are using CoDeeN content distribution network(CDN). CoDeeN is a pulling-based HTTP content distribution network(CDN) deployed on PlanetLab with the goal of improving the Web performance.

You see this page because you chose to use CoDeeN in some way. If you don't want to surf through CoDeeN, please undo whatever step you made to use CoDeeN. Please check your proxy setting at your browser, or uninstall any anonymizer software which uses CoDeeN. By the way, using Web anonymizer through CoDeeN will not work smoothly, and your access to CoDeeN get blocked at any time.

Finally, please do not attempt to abuse our system. For security reasons, we closely monitor all the activities through CoDeeN and log all the requests, and in case of abuse these may be used as evidence in police investigation.

Otherwise, CoDeeN is open to public use, so feel free to enjoy the service. You will be redirected to the page you have just requested in ten seconds.

I don't know what the heck CoDeen is but evidently it is not good! All the proxies I've used get this message.

I have a dynamic IP. Can't I just unplug my modem and let it resolve to a new IP address each time I need to sign up for a web 2.0 property and post my article with my backlinks? Maybe clear my cookies beforehand also?

How many proxies you used in SB? Did you run the proxy test in SB before posting? I'm also using hidemyass proxy list, but I have purchased the life time subscription. After checking the list with SB proxy checker, I used to get around 200-300 working proxies.

Actually I haven't used SB yet. The reason is the initial backlink campaign I'm trying doesn't rely on tons of links but several dozen high quality ones. Also I want to try things manually before I begin automating the process so I can understand better what it is I am automating and finally SB is a bit intimidating. :)

But yeah, I didn't realize SB had a proxy checker. I guess I need to start watching those tutorial videos even as I start this, my first, link campaign. I think I will watch one video a day and do one or two backlinks a day for now. I don't want to overload my brain. I am already decompressing the information I found here at BHW.

Thanks for all the answers! I'm excited to finally be taking my first steps from the realm of knowledge and make my first foray into the realm of action!

The only bad thing about hidemyass .com is that the free list is not in text format so I don't know of any way to import a large list of them into SB to be checked. Doing it manually by copy & pasting is going to be tedious but it looks like that is my only choice.

Well that and using my dynamic IP as I mentioned earlier.

With volume of work you planning, I don't think you need any proxies... Just use proxy harvester function and get some working free proxies which you can use to harvest url then filter it based on PR and other stuff...

Once done try manual commenting and you should be good to go...
