How exactly do people who own social media bot farms make any money if static residential IPs cost so much? The Luminati (https://luminati.io/proxy-types/static-residential-ips) rates seem extortionate. Is there a provider that offers a good deal on bulk static residential proxies for social media automation purposes?

You can always contact providers for special request, bet you could reduce the price if you need a large amount of proxies.
you can also create your own 3G proxies with some cheap SIM cards.

Luminati is one of the most expensive providers. They're good, but I'm not sure whether they're the best option for account farms.

Luminati is expensive but it is good quality. It can bypass the residential proxy detection service such as IP2Proxy.
