Proton Mail users, thoughts?

It’s okay just like any other email service. They say it’s more secure but I have no idea about that part

I've been using it for years, for important accounts like banks, bookings, etc...
It's fine, nothing wrong, nothing special.

You get a double password, for example, but I never had such a need for security though.

It also offers VPN, paid and free. You can use free one with your protonmail account, no need to create another account. Its give server access to 3 countres with medium speed.

For those of you who use ProtonMail, what's it like?

Thinking of making the switch from Gmail, thanks to @bartosimpsonio

Protonmail is trusted by all sorts of security pros. It's less flashy than other free emails but keep in mind that "when you're not paying, the product is you"

To be free from google, all you gotta do is get a U$ 1 domain and a U$ 10 hosting account. Something like namecheap for instance gives you unlimited email on your own domain.

I've been happy with it for a long time. I use it mostly with
tor and never have login issues.

Depends on what you need and your threat model really. If you need a custom domain/email for example, ProtonMail can get expensive for some.

I suggest you sign up for free on ProtonMail, Tutanota and Mailbox.org

Get a feel for all 3 of them for a week or two then you can decide :)

I personally use Tutanota (mainly) as it best serves my purpose. Not the greatest name, I know, but I get A LOT for just 12€ a YEAR

I do have a free account with ProtonMail though.

You can also compare some of the other privacy-focused email providers here: https://www.privacytools.io/providers/email/

I heard they are great about security, but some emails take a long time to arrive, for example confirmation emails.

I am using it and it's fine
but google is much more easy to work with because of their features

Its great. I use their premium plan + VPN, for a total of $10 per month. As well as few other accounts, including PayPal. Highly recommended

a lot of people use protonmail who do business on the Internet, this is a trustworthy tool and which, incidentally, is well accepted by all search engines
