Hi Team - What is the best way to keep content unique safe from someone that has just copied it from my website ? This will create duplicate content and will hurt ranking.
I know there is http://www.google.com/dmca option, but I'm not very confident on using it...

What are the other option that you'd personnaly go through ?

Renard,

If the content is produced by you or given to you and you are able to say it was produced by you, there is always the avenue of signing up for Google Authorship and link the content to a Google Plus profile. This would not stop people from taking it but at least you may get the benefit of showing up higher in search because Google attributes you with producing it first.

There is really no way to stop people from taking content off the web and you will spend a lot of time an energy going after people who have done so; even if you eventually win. People who do this will eventually get penalized if they are blatantly being deceptive and trying to manipulate SERP's by taking content.

More about Google Authorship,

Hope that helps you out,

Shawn

I go to google authorship with every piece I write.

Scritty

if you publish unique content and your website indexes it first - authorship of that content belongs to you. Period

Does the rel="canonical" applies for unique content that I write on my website, or is it kind of 301 redirect and to notify of the SE of duplicate content on the same website ? I'm sorry I got confused here...

Do you guys add the authorship on every page on the website, or only on the home page ? I have seen my competition add it on multiple pages

I personally use tynt dot com as if anyone copies your shit you get a backlink from them.

Not sure this thing works. If you copy and paste the content in notepad first and then copy and paste it again on your website, the url that is "inserted" won't be there anymore
