OP is a rock star for bringing up this thread. I got Crohns disease in 2001 and I blame it on the crap food I ate in the 90s and all the chlorinated/fluoridated tap water I drank in school after recess etc. Now, I say I don't have Crohn's anymore after I switched my diet around and the water I drink. All that sh*t destroys your immune system.
There's much more than fluoride in our tap water to be concerned with: chlorine, pharmaceuticals that seep through the pipes, toilet paper and whatnot. Not drinking the stuff is the first step, then getting a filter for your shower head to remove the chlorine (chlorine permeates through the skin; why in the heck are ppl still doing laps and swimming in recreational pools??) or a reverse osmosis system to take out the fluorine and chlorine when you shower....
But the problem with RO or tap that you put through a standard brita or pur filter is you're not getting the beneficial minerals and it's still not removing all the crap. Best thing is to find a spring around your area that you know is clean. Even Mountain Valley Spring water has been filtered. I don't know of any springs around my area, but the only spring water I've found to buy that doesn't even filter their stuff is a place out in Maine called Summit Spring. I guess they're starting to show up in some co-ops/ whole food stores in the US. I bought from them a few times online but they're so darn expensive especially when I'm out in Minnesota and shipping is $30 or so.
For now I've settled with is Fiji water. I'm ok with drinking it for now, but I'd love to be able to keep buying Summit Spring water. And here's my boy Daniel Vitalis at the location where they harvest Summit Spring water:
Spring water in glass is the way to go. If everyone was eating organic food and drinking spring water the hospitals would be losing sooo much business. I'm not ruling out that these might be all steps for population control or just to keep the doctors and dentists employed.
Vote with your dollars- the less regular supermarket food you buy and the more you grow your own food or buy organic, then the companies have no choice but to start focusing more on organic. If you read that thing about bees and how 1/3 of them have vanished in the last 6 years, well why is that? It could very well be the chemicals and pesticides being sprayed on crops... and/or GMO
Several of you have commented on toothpaste. The best I've found that you can actually ingest is Earthpaste- no fluoride, glycerin or any of that crap. Even co-ops don't have totally natural toothpaste
