Hey all,

So something isn't quite working with my prosper202 setup. I am promoting clickbank using 7search: my hop link ends with [[subid]]. I generated the prosper link and added ###KEYWORD### to the end. I tested the links and started the campaign. On the initial test CB tracking id's were created and entries in prosper were created. As the campaign ran I saw keywords start showing up in prosper, as it should.

I finally made a sale and go to find the TID in the clickbank analytics but its not there. I looked at the prosper analytics for the campaign and it has only registered 10 clicks and 2 keywords.

I think this has something to do with hostgator. I told them I had setup prosper and asked to whitelist mod_security and they told me this:
hostgator said:
Unfortunately we are unable to whitelist the entire domain for a specific reason however, we noticed that you are wanting to host a Prosper202 website on a shared server. The reasons why your website is not functioning properly is because we do not allow Prosper202 websites on our shared servers. You will need to upgrade to a VPS Snappy 2000 or dedicated server.
I'm not sure what to make of this because on the surface prosper is totally functional. Also as recently as last year people report hostgator whitelisting rules for them on shared servers.

At the moment I don't believe any new clicks are being tracked, but the link is redirecting properly. Edit: New clicks registering, obviously some have not gone through though.

What to do?

Try switching from Hostgator to Hostwinds. They guarantee that works fine with them (Prosper202) but not sure if their cheapest option will do the trick...I'll subscribe tomorrow as well!
Alternatively, check out Voluum that has a no cost starting plan. Good luck!

Ok well things appear to be working now. I didn't mention but I also linked prosper202 to my clickbank account using a secret key and prosper link. I got a new sale and it was displayed in prosper without having to copy tid's over.

Since something caused that sale earlier to get dropped (from tracking) I'm keeping a close eye on it. Like I said on the surface its perfect and according to some searching I did its lucky I got it setup so easily. All my searches turned up horror stories it seems and not minor glitches like I experienced.

Will consider those recommendations. At the moment the overhead involved is scaring me off, maybe over winter break. I actually have 2 personal sites hosted on x10 freehosting and haven't moved them over to hostgator yet. Partially laziness, partially afraid of my email (hosted elsewhere) going offline - need to figure out how to make that process seamless.

Using HostGator is your first mistake. The second is not having it set up on a VPS. Don't listing to those that say you need the VPS optimized for prosper202 almost any reliable host will do.

@OP try to use a vps, because, when you will bee using LP on shared hostgator, prosper202 will be having problem tracking. When you will check manually, itt will work but when the campaign will run, you wont get the stats. It happened with me.
Its better to shift to a vps. Have used hostwinds earlier and they work great.

I'm not sure exactly what you mean by "using LP on shared hostgator". I'll take advice to use a vps to heart, but a lot of what I read elsewhere (eg. Luke from Peerfly) said that its fine to use a shared host until you start handling a ton of clicks. I'm reluctant to go for that until the cost factor makes it worth it, since atm stats are registering.

LP stands for landing page. I was having problem tracking using landing page an prosper202 on hostgator shared hosting. when i talked with the support, they asked me to get a vps instead. If your tracking stats are fine with shared hosting then its fine, you can upgrade it later.

My first question for you would be is prosper202 registering any of the subids/TIDs clickbank is generating for each click?

You are afraid to use web solutions for stats tracking?
