Pros or Cons of using a VPS vs Second Laptop for SEO programs.

Hello BHW brothers ans sisters,

I recently purchased GSA and am curious if anyone is using it on a secondary computer as opposed to a VPS. As I never used it before I want to make sure I have the best setup for success and inquire if there is any pitfalls to running it on a secondary computer.

Laptops runs on mobile processors which are optimized for power efficiency whereas VPS and dedicated boxes runs on powerful Xeon processors so you can run more threads.

VPS's are generally hosted on data center so there won't be any power failures and they're always on.

You'll get better port speed(100Mbps to 1Gbps) on VPS when compared to our low-speed home/office connection.

I'd say, Go for the VPS. I bet you won't regret it. In fact, you'll be happy with your decision.
 
If you want your laptop to survive longer, i recommend to use vps..

Also what i like with VPS is that i can control it anytime even using mobile..

Plus VPS have high number of threads capability...
 
I'm using it on my home PC, the only downside is the lack of bandwidth.

On point I'd go with using a VPS if you look around there is very cheap providers I'm rather new to it
but getting the hang of Ubuntu. I've ditched my vpn provider and now run openvpn from my vps couldn't be happier honestly.

A lot of us share this dilemma. I hope there are some more concrete answers on this thread.
 
VPS is definitely better because it's more reliable, more powerful in most cases, and it isn't making a noise and using your electricity.

Aside from that, if you have a decent home computer that can stay on 24/7 without over heating, and you have fast broadband, then there is no massive disadvantage to using a home PC.
 
Bandwidth will definitely become an issue with a 2nd laptop.

If you suck too much of it up your internet provider may shut you down or flag your IP for unusual activity.

There are a lot of VPS providers out there that offer unmetered bandwidth for applications like GSA, Scrapebox etc. for like $40-50/mo
 
I actually used one of my laptops for GSA and didn't had any problems. I'm also familiar with VPS's but only use them when my CPU can't stand. One thing I recommend if you go the laptop route is to have a decent coolerpad.
 
I think it would also be a matter of usage- guys managing 1000 twitter accounts and running GSA Ser campaigns would probably need a VPS, while someone running only 5 Twitter accounts for 20 hours a day maybe could make do with just another laptop. Right ?
 
I believe that it will depend on your budget and the power that you will actually need.
 
Go for VPS, laptop really isn't enough power for what you want
