Hey guys,

I'm looking for some reassurance that I have set up tracking correctly.

I am trying to set up event tracking on my submission forms that don't go to a thank you page but instead show a thank you message on the same URL after the form has been submitted.

To see this up I followed the following process:

1. Deployed GA via GTM.
2. Added Events to trigger on the button click which seem to trigger with the following settings:
a) Category: Form Submission
b) Action: Request Call Back
c) Label: Request A Call Back Submission

3. To then get these to show in GA, I set up a goal and followed this process:
a) New Goal
b)Custom
c)Goal Name: Contact Us Page Form
d) Type: Event
e) Category: Form Submission
f) Action: Request Call Back
g) Label: Request A Call Back Submission

Is this the right way of tracking the events as they trigger?

Seems about right, but button clicks can give you false positives. If possible, put some requirements on the form itself so it can't be submitted unless requirements are being met. Then have two events for the button which would be clicked and clicked success. That way only successful form submissions would be tracked.

Yeah, I did think that it will probably count for failed submissions too. A work in progress I guess. That's reassuring that it looks about right though, so thanks for that!
