Proper 301 redirect

I have bought some expired domain, the registrar is Godaddy. Im confused on doing 301 redirect. So far, the videos i have seen they are doing it through hosting account, but i have only purchased domain, i know how to do 301 permanent redirect from godaddy "manage domain" module, is that is the correct way when we want to do redirect if we don't want to setup the website again ?

if yes, should i redirect the expired domain's www version or non-www version to my own domain ?

I don't buy domains to redirect them, but I'm assuming that if you don't have a site set up where you can use a script to redirect the domain, then doing a 301 redirect through your hosting panel should suffice.

As for which version you should redirect to ,you should redirect the expired domains to the canonical version of your domain; if you use www, then redirect them to the www version.

when i create backlinks for my sites, i use http:// not http://www.mysite.com , where should i redirect ?

I have got hosting panel for my own domain, but i don't have hosting panel for expired domain, i have only the domain ownership nothing else.
Is im missing something ?

If your site appears as http://mysite.com (some people refer to these as naked domains), then 301 redirect to that URL.

Use 301 redirects for URLs that are not canonical
Suppose your page can be reached in multiple ways:

https://example.com/home
https://home.example.com
https://www.example.com

It's a good idea to pick one of those URLs as your preferred (canonical) destination, and use 301 redirects to send traffic from the other URLs to your preferred URL.

I'm not sure how to answer your second question, so maybe someone else will come along and answer it.

Some domain registrars don't provide "301 redirect" if you only purchase a domain (only DNS control), I am not sure if this is the case with GoDaddy.
Though I found this guide, maybe it'll solve your problem.

Yes yes,that is what i was referring, they have permanent 301 and temporary 302 redirection option,i meant to ask zwielicht whether i can do this way without any problem coz i don't have have hosting panel obviously for my expired domain only this dns control i have.

If they have a 301 redirect option, you shouldn't have any issues with it (301 redirects pass over "link juice", 302 redirects do not). The link that adaptable posted should provide instructions on how to do this.

Since you have control over the DNS records, another thing you can do is point the domains over to a free web hosting server like Freehostia or Awardspace and then use a 301 redirecting script through that web host to point the domain over to where you want them to redirect to, but using the domain registrars 301 redirect option is far simpler.

I think godaddy has redirect option in the domain admin panel, it will do a 301 I believe.
and yes, when you visit your site it will come up either with or without www - so do the 301 to the same.
if your site works on both then you should also redirect www to non-www or vice versa on the site itself to avoid some back links going to each.

may i know how i can make google know that my new domain is the new destination for the expired domain im using ?

is there any quick way, i think one new indexed backlink for my expired domain will do the job, right?

If you're talking about pinging search engines to let them know that the URL needs to be checked (which is when the web crawler will discover the 301 redirect), you can use one of these sites, but I cannot tell you if any of them are effective.

http://pingomatic.com/
http://pingoat.net/
https://pingler.com/
If the URLs have backlinks built to them, a web crawler will eventually find it (depending on what sites the backlinks are on) and do the same thing.

You can submit a 301 redirect in webmaster tools - by using the "change of address" option

If you go with a registrar's 301, make sure you test the request using HEAD to see if the redirect is 301 and not 302 and to make sure the registrar isn't routing the redirect through one of their own properties.

Do you mean redirect will be like = > exp domain => registrars own property => my new domain ?

what is this registrars own property ? no idea seriously.
