this is day 3 of this video being uploaded...
with 2 likes and 4 dislikes youtube is still showing this video! and growing.
this is in tech which is a very competetive niche... even the AVD is below average! i don't know why it's continuing to get views from browse!

It's always been an obvious fact, the more hits, the more they generate even more hits
 
Indeed likes/dislikes don't matter, just views, CTR and watchtime.
 
It is one of the ranking factor, not the only ranking factor.
 
I mean just take a look at the DisneyVEVO channel. Every video of theirs has an almost 1:1 like-dislike ratio, yet they're raking in billions of views.
 
Yeah, likes/dislikes don't matter but it's nice to have a few of them just to boost a bit of legitimacy on ur videos.
 
Watchtime is most important. If you are able to retain a viewer for most part of the video, the channel with blow up. Likes do not matter much in this case.
