Great post, however, it is a bit misleading. EMD only works as long as google considers the search term to be a brand name. Right now the search intent behind the term 'autogpt' is the brand name, which is why we see that site show up:



Now enter the actual keyword, and the EMD goes down:



It's only a matter of time until the actual search intent for this new keyword is established. At that point the EMD will get buried.

If someone were to acquire the domain name bestlaptops.com, it will never rank anywhere on the first page without some serious SEO. It is an established keyword with an established search intent that google understands and knows to associate it better with more relevant sites.

It is domain have the same name as keyword being targeted.

i had an EMD for a long time, i didn't build any links, content was very well optimised. i wasn't even listed on google for my emd keyword.

I only got ranked after I built links.

any moderately competitive keyword will need links and work. i suspect there IS ZERO optimisation and links to other site for autogpt so yeah, your optimised site that has emd got the top spot.

I say it again: there are enough emd domains who are on high price in domain auctions.
My logical understanding is: high demand= high price.

But when emd today not works anymore and goes down in serps ranking, so there is no high demand and no need for premium prices for them?
Ok some have lot's of content on their site and good numbers of backlinks.

Is it myth or truth in general that a .com domain gets the most traffic?
I mean you found a domain name and .com tld is taken , but available with .net,.site, .co....but only the .com domain gets the most traffic for the same niche?

To prevent have a emd getting down by google is make the site big with regularly constant posting good quality content build topic clusters .

Or have not an exact emd use a variation= brand name like this:

johnbrandingagency
johnbrandingcrafts
johnbrandingservice

I hope you get the idea...with this google will consider the name as brand and not an emd and you can have a big keyword within the name!
