    Hey Guys

I'm a small-time web developer, I've currently got a portfolio of 3-4 websites and looking to promote it to small businesses in the area. Big question is, how can I promote it? I'm currently working on a website to offer the services and demonstrate my skills, but what other methods can I use to advertise, locally.

    Thanks
    Adam

Search for businesses in local yellowpages, and set an appointment with them. Advertise on local newspapers, or do cold calling. Use flyers and calling cards.

The first and best place I can think of to efficently promote your type of business would be craigslist. High traffic goldmine if you sre in the right city for it.

    Home Page:
Get a scraping program, and email and call some leads.

Purchase a database of local businesses, plug it into your CRM and start prospecting.

I have a friend in california who is 1/4 workers, his boss clears about $500k+ annually, runnign a pc repair company. simple repairs, underpaid workers = massive profit.

Is craigslist really any good? I've heard good reviews about it and I've sold tangible products on there but never really a service. And in relation to emailing and cold calling. Is that legal in the uk to just do it from your own phone? And I'm in Sheffield if thats any help.

Tried this myself, I still have the site and I get the local traffic from google and post to craigslist every once in a while.

My problem was this asshole who flagged my posts within a few hours of posting them. His are the only live posts and he just keeps posting them while no one else's posts stay up for more than a couple hours. I eventually just gave up because I found better success through other methods.

Thanks for all the positive feedback. Any chance I can have a look at your site? Also if you wouldn't mind inboxing me some of those methods that would be great.

Hmmm. So with CL would I need multiple accounts to post. What sort of ads. The paid ones? Featured? What sort of information do I NEED in there. Should I be linking to my website or? I'm kinda not sure on the concept of CL. Is it like eBay without a payment system. Sort of "sort it between yourselves" or.
