    Hi,

I own several websites selling physical items.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but after reviewing some posts on here my conclusion is the majority of people using techniques discussed are using affiliates and AdSense links for their income. In other words few people actually have a E-Commerce website?

I use Magento with built in WP blogging system which is very friendly with Google. But we are in dire need of backlinks going to the site to boost our ranking.

I've read a lot about the various software packages and services provided by members and am starting to understand them, my main concern though is G penalizing us or worse deindexing us.

Can I have some thoughts on how best to link to the website to minimize repercussion from G.

Have any members here used software like Senuke X to send backlinks directly to Magento, OScommerce etc.

    Thanks
    J

Sorry but I've not had any experience with Prestashop so can't give a comparision, but I rate Magento very highly it takes some getting used (I was using ZenCart for years) but Magento is definately my shopping cart of choice now.

Some free extensions I use are FishPig WP blog (uses your Magento template as the WP template), M2E Pro eBay exporter (will automatically create eBay auctions for you based on your catalogue) and Google API (sends a data feed for your products to show up on Google shopping). Let me know if you want further information about them.

    Cheers

I use interspire and am very happy with it. Its very easy to get used to. As for SEO i tend to go mainly white hat as if i lose this business i lose my income. My store is around 8 months old and is growing every day. Some keywords are ranked #1 on google but have a long way to go.

Yep, I'm using the free Magento CE edition 1.6.2.

Magento can be expensive with the add-ons, but you do get some nice free ones.

Also It is a bit technical if you want to change something, so you need to know a bit of about css and php or you'll spend hours searching in Google looking for your answer....

But that said when you get your head round it, it's easy :)

This is my dilemma, losing a moneysite with nice traffic and AdSense links is one thing, but losing your business site could be devastating.

One thing I've been thinking is to create say 5 WP blog at "NEWURL1" "NEWURL2" "NEWURL3"... etc. In each NEWURL have a decent amount of new (not spun) content each with a different keyword anchor text to the "BUSINESSSITE". Then blackhat the NEWURL's, and whitehat the BUSINESSITE.

Do you think that would work?

Good luck on your site btw :)

You have the right idea. That is what I just started doing as I have set-up web 2.0 sites and am targeting certain keywords with them. I spin the content then touch it up and make it readable. Since these aren't your money site you can try out backlinking methods and such. Over time these new websites become stronger links to your site since you backlink them.

This a a safer approach since you can use blackhat methods on your web 2.0 sites and whitehat on your money site. :D

What I would recormend is build web 2.0s (like wordpress . com) there is a big list on hear somewhere then link them to your money site and then mass back link the web 2.0s.

this way you don't have to worry about buying a load more hosts and domains.

Nice to see some fellow e-commerce folks sharing information. I use WP with market theme. I am not satisfied with its performance, does well for seo but as a cart, not so good. Looking for alternatives and magento sounds like it has all I am looking for. Where can i find developers who know's magento and WP and understands this area?

Some great ideas guys, I'm very grateful indeed, so grateful infact that I decided to donate $97 to BHW so I can post without spam messages coming up lol!

    gm2026 -

I've found the blog list you mean - http://www.blackhatworld.com/blackhat-seo/black-hat-seo/393145-new-web2-0-blog-list-over-100-updated.html
So I can content using THEIR servers, i.e. http://MYWEB2BLOG.WORDPRESS.COM/ and link back to the moneysite, saving money on new domains and hosting everytime?

    Dumper -

$200 is within budget , I'll check them out - thanks.

    samsolong -

Unfortunately Magento doesn't have the massive community as other cart solutions, but it is growing and June 2011 it was brought out by eBay so I'd assume it's going to get bigger and bigger.

It terms of SEO; a Magento store with an intergrated WP blog is superior IMO and I'd definitely suggest you research it (Search Google for "FishPig" for the free WP extension).

I'd love to have a read through your guide, I'll try to PM you now :)

I am looking for a solution for my ecommerce website as well, and the daily UV is only around 20 to 30, obviously not enough!

I am just wondering how effective the backlink building methods suggested across this forum apply to the ecommerce website??

I saw most of people say their methods won't be affecting rand and index, so just bit curious!

Hope to share more with people here having ecommerce websites as well!

    cheers

yeah thats right. Just dont use the same email address for every wp blog you make and dont just use wp there is lots of web 2.0s out there.

p.s. thats not the right link to the web 2.0 list. The one i was talking about was by phpbuilt

I have an ecommerce site ranking on the first page for several keywords in a competitive niche. I'm using prestashop. The trick is to extending product descriptions and making them unique. My shop has thousands of products, so it's overwhelming and time consuming. I've probably only completed about 2% lol. It's also boring :). I mostly backlink the homepage and categories. I backlink product pages maybe 10%. Products sometimes get discontinued so I don't want to lose all my backlinking efforts.

I just downloaded a plugin that displays the price and star rating on the SERPs like Amazon. Should help with conversions. I also use other plugins. No paid plugins. All free.
