I end up SEOing each autoblog for a few days in order to actually see some good results. There are some people claiming that the just submit their blog to a few bookmarking sites and move on. Does this actually work with time or do you guys go for very narrow niches with little competition?

indeed of seo if it is an autoblog better try networking for more customer
make it autoping and autobookmark is better with the plugins available

    Networking you may check
    - myspace & facebook
    - watermark youtube video with your sitename
    - Twittering - Denny boy or Lively browser product, there are also Twitter Blaster Pro here that are free
    - Yes or no Yahoo Answers products

Ah it is all i think so
if there's other forget about it

    - oh yeah 1 more netlog 15000 hits from someone shared here.

I think it's much better to promote the blogs a little than to let them just sit there. The trick is however to automate (or outsource) most of the promotion and leave out all time intensive steps.

my blog installation and plugin setup is automated.
then the daily pinging of new articles is automated.
only thing left to automate is pligg submit :)

could you please list the plugins you use.

I've seen a few mentioned on other autoblog posts, like wp-o-matic.

also which blog installation method do you use?

    thanks!

The best thing that has worked for my seven semi-automatic blogs are to follow these steps, not necessarily in order either.

    • Post your blog in general to Mixx, Digg, Technorati, Stumble, Reddit, and Del.icio.us, as well as any other social bookmarking site you can think of.
    • Look for Wakkaoaka's ping list thread on the Black Hat SEO section of the forum. It's a massive help.
    • When you post, make sure you go back and Digg every one of your posts. It is the absolute fastest way to get your blog indexed by Google.
    • Make an ewhore Facebook, MySpace, and Pornhub account, link them all together, and spam the fuck out of your blog, as well as your posts.
    • If you are going to fully automate your blogs, make sure you check on them multiple times daily to avoid problems, especially if you're getting thousands of uniques daily and quite a bit of money from them.
Hope my advice helped you out. Good luck in your promotional journeys.

    Sincerely,
    FreeTheTV [reborn]

I use social bookmarking, rotating what sites and accounts I submit to each day, and I also mix in bookmarks for sites that aren't mine with my own to keep everything natural.

I submit to pligg sites, again rotating which sites and accounts I use each day.

I submit to scuttles each day from a number of accounts.

When I say "I" above, I don't mean I am actually doing these things, I'm really not. Someone else is doing them for me for a few dollars per hour.

But they're all being done manually, which I think is key. Even the scuttle submits, there are ways to slightly increase the value of those submissions and links but the automated tools like BMD aren't good for it. So I have someone manually doing the work every day of submitting my pages/links and then boosting them for extra benefit.

The same is true for the social bookmarking and pligg submissions. Just submitting your site/link to them isn't enough, thousands of others are doing that too, you need to be creative and take some additional steps with your accounts to get more benefit from them. Think about feeds and what the letters RSS actually stand for... don't just leave your bookmarks sitting on your account pages, syndicate them, spread them all around the web. Every RSS feed (and rss feeds are never "nofollow") from every account on every social bookmarking/pligg/scuttle site can be converted into 100+ links that funnel down to your blog. But again, there's not much available in automation software that can help with this, it takes a little manual work and some creative thinking.

I don't ;) I try to automate most stuff related to the promotion of my autoblogs. I just meant outsourcing would be another option.
