Promoting art?

Is there literally anything on BHW that could promote an artist? I mean, it's no use building a site and try to gain traffic to it because nobody really visits an artist's website/portfolio, usually just follow them on social media.

My only ideas are Tumblr, but I don't know of any service to promote a Tumblr :/ any tips?
 
Advertise on BHW
Making a pro site will help you as well, try tier link building and be constant in social media, proffesional look + daily posting in social sites is the most important of course. Paid services can help you as well

I do oil paintings and a lot of sketches, mostly sketches nowadays. If you mean category then probably like minimalist-cubist
 
instagram is another platform you should think about, even if you don't know too many things about it marketing wise, it has a lot better engagement than tumblr, there are services which can run your account for $$/month and can give you a couple thousand targeted followers who will be interested in your stuff

Is there any way/service to find out high-traffic hashtags and such? It feels like all of the tags on Instagram have either way 20,000,000 posts already or just like 200 haha :/

Could bot this aspect(being constant). Just threw together a bot to post a certain time once a day for me, working on getting it to try and describe images for me because personally I can't be arsed to

Can't find the links, but you'll also want to count the number of hashtags you utilize based off of the site which you are publishing your images on. Wouldn't want the people on FB to think of your images as spammy because there are 100 hashtags and they associate the picture with the description :p

At the same time instagram has a much higher tolerance for hashtags.
 
You won't make much money from your art, if any at all if you re just doing paintings and sketches. The real money is in 2D / 3D animation...
