I recently picked up a gig working for a company that distributes a product from Germany. They were initially looking for someone to manage their Facebook(300 friends) to help increase sales. I talked to them about SEO and internet marketing in general to help boost sales and they were eager to sign me on for the job. However I haven't done too much work on a a branded website selling a product. I had success in the past with adsense and a site that did affiliate leads.
I am considering having a blog added to their website as we all know, "content is king," but do you think that will fit it? Should I just have a few blogs on other websites, squidoo/hubpages? They sell about 10 different products, have a pretty good looking website, and have great packaging and materials.
The gist of what I am doing is handwriting articles and submitting them to other websites through Postrunner(free). Also I am doing blog/forum comments with do-follow anchored links. I am trying to get into building Web 2.0's and bookmarking but some of these concepts are new to me. I haven't done much IM in the past year or so because I had a brick and mortar business I was working on.
Anyone have any experience working on a product based website willing to share tips? I am working with a PR 1 site that is about a year old, about 400 facebook friends. No twitter followers yet. No G+ friends or Pinterest followers yet. Their product is on Amazon and it is also sold in a handful of small businesses. Anyone have any advice they could give me so I can hang onto this job? They are paying me pretty well for the basic stuff I am doing.
