When I first started out back in 2001, I joined many but selected affiliate programs including those from Clickbank and CJ as well during the first three years.
A great number of those affiliate programs that were sure winners failed to generate any sales for me even though I have invested in ads, ezines, banners exchanges and ppc.
Then after, I discovered that I was using the banners they have provided. What's wrong with that? Well, many like myself may have also overlooked the fact that these banners came with the names of their domain on them.
This one factor alone has caused me possibly hundreds if not thousand of sales during the first two years.
Another is the failure to mask your affiliate links or badly masked links, which enabled potential buyers to bypass you.
One sure way nowadays when I promote my chosen affiliate programs, I had my own banners and buttons created or modified supplied ones to delete their domain name.
