Has any blackhatters tried this? It seems like a great way to get your product or website out there without spending thousands of dollars every month on billboards.

This is mainly used by "vandals" to protest things,but can be used by businesses to cheaply advertise

That's really cool.

I'd seen stuff like this where people would fiddle with the buildings electrics to play games with the buildings lights but nothing using a projector onto the building.

I don't know about cheap though. Maybe if you already had a projector.

I've already got everything else (Laptop, Inverters, car etc) but a decent projector over 2500 Lumens in Australia would be like $800....

Might try it one day when I can afford a projector :p
 
If you get the projector one day,and decide to do this,just don't write vulgar things. I think that's why the cops were called on these people. If it looks like a professional logo. People would think it is ok that its up.

Projection Advertising can be made to look nice like this one.

The instructible article said the cops came twice. Once they just asked him to move on and the other time the cop just wanted to see what the guy was doing and said cool :p

Probably best to look up local laws (if any) on this sort of thing to know what you can/can't do

But the cops were called because they were putting up "virtual graffiti" I bet no cop would question it,if it was a professional looking logo.
 
Yea I guess.

My fear would be that putting up any sort of contact details (website, email, phone) is that you've just given out a means for anyone disgruntled about the ad (say the owner of the building you just borrowed) to contact you and demand you stop.

I'd probably try this with maybe a CPA offer or a throwaway domain name first to test the water in terms of people getting angry.

My website,it will probably bring alot of traffic,since people would be whats that. Then go to it to find out more. Ill just need the address nothing more lol.
 
be really careful figure it would be seconds for them to know where you are and not much longer to get there...

in some cities billboards require permits and have huge fines for not having them ... not to mention the owner may be able to sue you .. especially if they already do advertise or have a fee structure for advertising

be really careful there no anonymous proxy for this you/ your gear is gona be where it can be found

All it is,is light its not like I would actually put my logo on something physically,just shining a "light" at something.
