Hello.
I am a programmer/designer with about 12 years of experience and 5000$ on my bank-account to invest right now.

I think I could do better with this than just going with the usual PPC, Youtube, Affiliate things, right?
The only thing is that for now I don't really have anything in mind what I could "build" using my skills properly.

Anyone knows which direction to go?

THANKS!

I have a master in CS so basicly I could do both, but honestly I have enough coding software like bots.

So Web Based would be my category to go.

You can go for web based software that can create and post to multiple web 2.0 blog...

That already exists and won't have any impact.
But if OP could develop software that would write unique and readable niche content on autopilot... :)

It doesn't matter what you have mastered in. what matter is what programming knowledge you have mastered in. well may be you can create something like ahrefs.com as well because this tool has become a part of every IM's life. May be a better version

Another idea is to develop an app for the entertainment world. That could really bring the dough

Entertainment app .. seems interesting, but what exactly?

Readable niche content on autopilot .. lol would make me a millionaire overnight ;)

What are you specifically skilled in? Familiar with javascript based stacks? Or frameworks like angular?

Javascript is absolutely no problem for me. Frameworks such as Angular, Backbone, Node are my daily working field.

Any ideas on what to program?

If you are hardcore at Javascript and have knowledge of HTML5, I would go with something like A digital audio workstation using the Web Audio API. It's not supported by the default Android browser yet, but Chrome and Firefox.
Take the concepts of FL Studio, Reason, Cubase etc and make it a web application instead. Free of course, but with cheap subscription-based membership for more samples and advanced features. <-- Just a monetization idea, too early to fantasize about.
Here is a huge list of crazy project using some features you might be interested in:

Here's just a couple of examples (And there are many):

If you 'could' actually pull something like this off, I think you would be the new player in the game of music making.
Making it an online application - and cheap - would attract A LOT of current and future talents.

Build a web app to help IMers to manage outsourcers work flow and reporting. A lot of the project management tools out there (basecamp) work OK, but they weren't built specifically for IM and outaouced workflows.

Could you expand on this? I think it's a good idea, but I'm not sure what it involves as I have never done any outsourcing.
