Hello;
I've been lurking this forum for way too long now without actually taking any actions, and I thought that introducing myself could help me in gathering the courage to do something.
I found it really depressing to see that many years of studying systems engineering were just leading me to a 9 to 18 job (most software development jobs in my country go from 9 to 18), hanging around an office, drinking coffee, maybe putting out some 3 to 4 hours a day of actual focused work, since meetings were as frequent as interruptions.
A couple of months ago, I decided to quit my job and try to be my own boss, from home. I did quit, but I found myself taking the first job I was offered from home, instead of starting my own project. This was not entirely bad, though. Getting out of the confort of having a steady job showed me it was actually possible to earn as much, working half of the time and from home.
Still, I feel that I have not been faithful to my original goals. I just don't want to work for work's sake any longer. I believe that it is possible to focus on generating value with the simplest available solution rather than looking busy reimplementing things in the latest technologies.
I believe that this mindset is shared among the users of this forum, and that's why I'm here.
I would like to start an internet venture, and gradually move away from my day job.
If I finally pull my stuff together and set myself on an idea, I'll post it on the Journey section.
Until then, I just wanted to say hi.
