Profile links valuble without linking to main forum?

Hi!
I want to know, profile backlinks are really valuable in latest Google algorithm?
Second one is, every profile backlinks will be receive, its main forum PR? Or to get main forum page rank, should i post/link something in that forum? That mean without linking main forum profile backlinks useless?

Profile backlinks provides little, if any, value to your serps. The only profile backlinks that seem to show any value, which is minimal, are edu and gov forums.

Profiles are usually blank, with the exception of a backlink. An empty profile with a link, is pretty unnatural. You will get more value by engaging in the forums and using signature files, even if it's just a few posts.
