Hey all!

I have some hats that I have designed myself. I now want to market these hats online though I do not know what the procedure is for getting professional pictures on a white background. It does not necessarily need to be a model wearing the hat, but just the product with a clean background.

I suppose it would look like the standard pictures you see when you go shopping on Amazon for example.

Any suggestions?

There's is two ways to do it: the white background (easiest way for people focus in your product) or, if you wanna give it a unique look, you can create some interesting images by placing other stuff with a similar color and texture behing your product to show it envolved in a certain environment, using guiding lines(only one example of an effective thechnique) to guide your clients eyes to the product.

It will depend where you want to upload your pictures.

The first one is more for online shops and the second it's an interesting one to share on social media or give a specific look to your own store.

At least this is what I do.

Thank you! Makes sense and quite helpful.
Could I ask, and sorry if this is basic but do I take the pictures with a camera (can I use my phone camera on a samsung 8 for example?) and then photoshop onto a white background? Or just place it on a white background from the start?

If you think your photoshop skills are good enough to do it, you can do it for sure. But I advise you to place it in a white background, that way you save time and there's no margin to make a mistake photoshopping.

iPhone camera is good enough, but if you have a camera go for it.

In the end, the format of your picture will be the same to upload to the store or social media. You just need to pay attention to the dimensions of it to make sure it will not lose quality.

I understand, thank you for explaining. Would you be kind enough to let me see one of the pictures you have taken in this way and uploaded either to a website or social media please?
