Problems with the fees on an aged account

I have to pay 81$ to Ebay, as listing fees for a single sale. I must mention that the item wasn't sold. They charged me for "reserve price auction fee" and for "buy it now listing fee". I used these options before, without paying anything, at least that's what I remember. Now they charged me without show me these hidden costs. Now I am shocked. I don't want to pay them because I consider they are cheaters. What should I do? I have a verified Paypal account linked to my Ebay account and I have set an automatic payment for this account. Should I delete my Ebay account? They will still be able to charge my Paypal account? By the way, my Paypal account is empty, but...I don't know what to expect from them. I would delete my Ebay account, even if it's well aged, it's from 2008, with 23 positive feedbacks on it. So, do you have any suggestions? Thank you in advance!

they will take the money out of your account if it's linked. if you want to prevent them from doing this, remove your bank or credit card details on Paypal.

But then eBay will send you threatening emails asking for the payment, and threaten to move the case to collections after a few months, and your ebay account will get suspended. so beware of that.

I don't think that's even possible for listing fees to be $81 on single item.

I put it on sale 4 times as far as I remember... And they told me that these are not insertion fees, but "reserve price auction fee" and "buy it now listing fee". If I remove my bank / credit card details on Paypal, can they suspend my Paypal account, too? Can they open a case against me in my country (I am from Romania, EU)? Can I make another Ebay account on my name later, if they will suspend this one?

eBay shows how much your advert is going to cost before you hit the submit button, including all of the extras you add to your auction.

You must have known how much you were going to be charged, just pay the bill and move on.

No they don't

whenever Im setting up an auction it says it costs $0 for putting up the auction, then when it sells I have all these BS hidden charges at the end of the month

Well your eBay must work differently to mine then, I see the total cost of each individual auction twice before I submit one.

If I use my personal account I have zero listing fees for auctions but it still shows me fees for BIN, multi category, reserve price etc. The only fee it doesn't show is final value fees because they cannot possibly know what your item will sell for.

You will always have final value fees added at the end of the auction, they make this clear when you list an item as well.

At the end of the month? It sounds like you're talking about the 10% selling fee. You sold it for $810?

No, I didn't see any fees until they sent me the bill at the end of the month. And no, I didn't even sold the item.

Edit: I have put those two images the wrong way round but you can still see the fees on both pages.

Those are insertion fees, I have few free listings each months! What's the point to lie when I say here that they didn't show any fees when I listed the sales?

What do you think insertion fees are, yes the listing will be free, I get so many a month on my personal account but I still get charged for extras as I already mentioned and it always shows the total price of the auction in the sections pictured.

All the charges will have been listed there, you just did not read them.

Also as @toml3030 pointed out, you could not have amassed £81 in fees by listing just one item even if you used every paid extra that they have and listed it multiple times!

Something about this just does not add up!

You will have received an invoice from eBay detailing exactly what fees you have been charged, if you dispute any of them then contact eBay and tell them.

It tells you at the bottom of that screenshot how much your reserve price auction fee is and the buy it now fee. Doesn't come to $81

Your insertion fees at the top are $1.78

I just played around with starting a listing with a reserve price and as you can see from my screenshots it clearly shows the fee before submitting the listing.

You simply did not pay attention or did not realize how the reserve price works. If you set a reserve they charge a percent as a nonrefundable insertion fee that you owe regardless of whether or not your item sells. If you relisted it 4 times then you pay that fee 4 more times even if the item does not sale.

If you dont wanna pay the fee dont pay it. Close your bank account or do whatever it takes. But your ebay account will be suspended and you will not be able to make a new one with your details or tied to that paypal account without getting suspended again.

You will have to make a new stealth ebay and paypal if you want to start selling again. The ebay will start from scratch with 10/1000 limits and a hold will be placed on the funds. Unless you wanna buy an aged paypal/ebay stealth account combo and I'm sure that would cost more than the 80 bucks you owe them now.

I would just suck it up, pay the money and chalk it up as a lesson learned. Next time start the bidding at the lowest amount your willing to take and you wont get hit with the reserve fees.

Of course the point of this is if there were no fees for having a reserve price, everyone would list their items starting at $0.01 so no one would know what anything would be worth.
