    Hello,
I am having problems with my comp. I got a virus from somewhere, i don't know. I then went in to safe mode and scanned my comp using AVG. I got some infections and they were moved to quarantine. I then formatted my comp to be sure that no viruses were left behind. Now after formatting, i still have 2 problems:

    1. Whenever i click on any drive in my computer, it opens in a new window.

    2. When i goto my computer-tools-folder options-view and when i uncheck Do not show hidden files and folders and after clicking on OK, it again cheks that option. I tried many times and as soon as i click ok, it again checks the option, and hidden files are not shown.

Please help me, i really need to get rid of this and want my comp to behave normally. Or please suggest which site can i post this to get a response.

    Waiting for replies.....

    Thanking you.

To see if any unknown programs are running:
Start - Run - type in MSCONFIG and hit ok - Go to start up - Disable unknown programs - Hit Ok.

    Try:

    Fix:

    First Method:

    1. Open Start >> Run and type regsvr32 /i shell32.dll

    2. press ok

    3. You will see a message DllRegisterServer and DllInstall in shell32.dll succeeded

    4. that's it

    Second Method:

    1. Open Start >> Run and type regedit

    2. Navigate to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT/Directory/Shell

    3. Double click the default key type none and press ok.

    4. now navigate to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT/Drive/Shell.

    5. Double click the default key type none and press ok.

    Third Method:

If you don't want to play with the registry ,you can run the following command instead at

Run Prompt: ( Open Start >> Run )

"reg add hkcr\drive\shell /ve /d none /f" (without double quotes)
