Has anyone set up a vps for the purpose of proxies using an ebook from
    Code:
    elite-proxy-server.com
    ?

I signed up for a vps plan and am trying to get this thing configured.
I'm using PuTTY as the telnet client and it's all pretty much going to plan until I try to run this guys script and it kind of stalls out.

No support on his website and I'm sure I'm just missing something basic but I'm not going to pay him 100 bucks to do this for me.

    Anyone using his script?

First of all: what distro is your vps using? Maybe his script doesn't cover all the flavours out there.
Second of all: why would you need a book to install a proxy on a vps? Do it by hand, the whole thing takes like half an hour. Of course, the tweaking and tinkering could take months after, but it must be tuned by hand, otherwise just go with the default setup.

Umm...maybe because the ebook which was about 6 pages and cost 10 bucks and I have no experience with vps hosting? But I figured out that the VPS host is blocking squid. If they weren't this would have taken me 15 minutes to set up.
