problem with ranking... and disavowe tool

Hey everyone. I have been buying backlink for my domain for some years. Only now I have noticed that a lost of these backlink were really low quality and anchors were always the same (keywords I wanted to rank).

I have seen that my ranking on google search has dramatically decreased over time. And now there are competitors with really bad pages (on page seo very badly done) and with ZERO authority, that rank better than me.

I have decided to disavow all backlink that I have bought.

do you think that this will help my ranking to be back? how long does this process take?

***or it may be better to leave this domain and start a new one?? (I have had this since 2018)

Disavowing bad links can help, but it’s not a quick fix. Once submitted, it can take weeks or even months before you see any impact because Google needs to recrawl and reprocess your backlink profile. Since your domain has history going back to 2018, I wouldn’t ditch it right away. Age and past signals still carry value. Focus on cleaning up the toxic links, improving content, and building higher-quality, natural backlinks. Starting over means losing that history and trust, so it’s usually better to repair than reset unless the domain is completely burned.

how can I understand if it is completely burned?
 
#1, you probably bought useless links, did they ever help in the first place?
#2 disavowing links never works, it's useless unless you're getting a manual penalty,
seems like you were just getting ripped off by buying trash links (assuming what you're stating is true)

yes, I am getting ripped off by buying trash links.

So, why should disavowing not help?

It never works, you can give it a try if you want to,
It's just a way made by google to basically "report these websites",
It will stripe out any passed link juice (which is none for spammy links) and will be useless to filter spam

If what you say is true, disavow tool would be only a disadvantage. It does not make a lot of sense

I would give it a shot and see if anything happens. the best way to go would be to start a new site with no junk links though

For Google, it's just helping,
Give it a try, nothing to lose after all, you'll know what's true

Disavowing bad backlinks can help, but it takes time, since your domain is from 2018, it’s better to clean it up first before thinking about starting over.

If your site has a long history and some good links, it’s worth keeping and cleaning up instead of starting over.
