Hey,
first of all i want to sorry You for my english - it is not my native language but i hope You can understand my words.
I ran local seo company one month ago. I have very nice company site, i am at TOP 10 for keywords which are common to my business.
I dont know why but i can not get any clients. I have cheapest prices, nice designed proposals etc. But it doesnt work. Many directors told me that they dont need SEO or advertising / website design, even facebook page! What the hell guys ?! Could You help me? Thanks

Maybe in your country Only, because in some countries people do not depend on online to get their client.
But try to offer your services through some ads companies, such as adword and i am sure you will start getting clients.
Best Luck :)

Actually i have not much traffic on my company website, but i saw in Adwords Keyword tool that many people need these services. Maybe it is because i am not in TOP 5 (i am in TOP10).

If you're not getting traffic, then the keywords you're ranking for aren't generating enough traffic, or you're not ranking high enough.

My advice would be to do some direct marketing; direct mail, cold-calling, cold-emailing, walk-ins, etc.

Try out 7878s method and send letters with dice or whatver in them...also schedule meetings to close the deal

Thanks so much for advices, i hope it will help !

Are you going AFTER clients? or just sitting and waiting for people to find YOU?

Actually i am using only email marketing. Many people open my emails but nobody responds. I did offer free websites and still nothing! WTF ? :X

It's possible that you aren't pushing the pain enough, so to speak.
I'm sure statistics vary by country, but here in the US online presence is very important, and businesses without it suffer greatly compaired to those who do.
Try to get some statistical data on the importance of SEO in your country, or just in general. That will help with the convincing.
And being in the top 5 will obviously help, too. Being #1 will help even more! It not only exposes your business to more people, but shows that you can actually do your job!
Best of luck! Keep us updated!

EDIT: since you are only using email marketing, expand. Others mentioned above direct mailers and the like. Give them a try. Statistics show (here in the US, at least :D) that email is less effective in terms of marketing than physical interaction. It's probably the same where you are, especially if SEO is considered less important, culturally.

Good day guys !
I did one cold-call and i got a contract !

Its opinions writing, 1 opinion per day, ~ 15 USD per month (one year contract).

I am sooo happy and i hope it will still going good! Thanks

You need to provide value before asking for something in return.

Set up a landing page with email opt-in and a video. In the video teach your potential customers the benefits of your search engine optimization. Show them how much money they are potentially losing by not ranking at the top. Then tell them how you can help them. If you have testimonials or social proof from past clients, show it in the video.

It's really easy, here are the 3 steps to follow:

1. Here's what I have. (As discussed above)
2. Here's what it will do for you. (As discussed above)
3. Here's what I want you to do. (Go select the package that best fits your business needs or give us a call)(This is your call to action)

Hope this information helps.

why don't you focus on ranking your money sites instead?...and if they are ranked already...then just build more...

Thank You so much LinkMonarch - it is great advice!

7878's method is definitely a good one, but if you're not top 3 then you probably won't get a lot of traffic depending on the keyword. A niche like health would likely get traffic from top 10 because people want many sources if they're looking up a health problem. If you're looking up an SEO company in your area, then you'll likely go for the top 2 because they ranked for their keywords so they'd probably rank yours. At least that's how I interpret it.

As my experience, a whole my SEO clients coming from mouth-to-mouth and linkedin... i don't have any website to promote my business, even good proposal... the problem is, people searching on internet mostly not serious looking SEO Service.. and the best part is story telling :)

i'm about handle 3 SEO clients at the moment. When they ask "Why you don't have site and doing SEO to your company profile?" i answer "Nope, i have no time to do that, i'd prefer doing the best to my clients". That's all :p

sorry bad english :p

Thanks guys. Today i had a meeting with one company and i signed one year contract for directory and opinion submissions. Its about 25 USD per month / 12 month contract. Thanks for all advices and still waiting for more.

Most of the time it takes reaching out to people and painting them two different pictures: One being where they're currently at (you don't have to degrade them, actually make it decent), and one of where they could be with your service. Anyone who tells you they wouldn't like to make more money is a bloody liar. Hit those hot buttons like greed!

Your first goal should not be to get clients but to talk to as many people as possible (preferably face-to-face). If you talk to a lot of people it does not matter if you are good or not at selling because you are always going to come across a lay-down. This business as any other business in sales is a numbers game. The more people you talk to the more sales you are going to make... it is a given. Even if you suck at sales you will still sell. So do not focus on different time consuming methods ( not say that the 7878 method is not effective but it is not SEO it is Rep. Management (which you are not selling)). Put yourself in a stalkers shoes... how are you going to talk to these people? Make phone calls, set appointments, email, do whatever it takes to put your services in front of them and I promise you that the sales will come.

Try to go face-to-face door-to-door negotiations since too much competition online. If you would be able to provide nice presentation skills, you good to go.
