hi guys i need your help, or input
on how i should handle this one

i recently sold a samsung galaxy smart watch and listed it as buy it now..

the buyer purchased and received the money within minutes , around (4pm) June 22

so i quickly went out to ship it out via fedex (2 day) listed as free shipping...

3-4 hours later the buyer message if he can pick it up locally.. around (7-8 pm) June 22

i told him it was already to late as it was already been shipped and no longer in my hands..

    no reply

the next morning around 4-5am june 23
    the buyer messaged me again
and now he wants to cancel it.. the reason was

    a. response to his earlier question ws really short and abrupt.
b he ordered one from amazon already

    my reply was
    a. even if he could pick it up locally its already to late because i already dropped it off, ( and even if i had the item i would still ship it. as it was sold as shipped) not locally.
    b. told him as seller he should of thought the purchased carefully and not waste both our time. (more experienced seller than me)

buyer was upset and threatening me to give me a negative feedback because i guess because he couldn't cancel.

i told him to wait for item to arrive and and do a return...

the buyer received the item within 2 days and wants to return as hes claiming that the item no longer charge anymore... and im responsible for shipping in return..
(i dont believe that because his intention was to do a return and doing this to avoid shipping charges..)

didn't reply yet but i will not honor the return shipping for return as ive already shipped it for free... and i will only lose money doing that

    what should i do???

Also report the buyer to ebay for feedback violation (threatened to neg you).

Report the buyer but eBay is likely to force a refund of shipping, so count it as a loss.

If he leaves you a neg send him a free charger for his troubles... if you don't get why you'd do this then send a pm.

he wanted to pick it up first, then i said no, coz it was already shipped.
then the next morning thats when he decides to cancel.. i already knew at that point this guys is going to screw me but i need to counter on how i can avoid losing money..
when he said he was gonna give neg feedback..
now hes claiming its not charging....

Had dealt with buyers like this many times. Its a headache, I know.

Do not worry about negative feedback. If he leaves it just contact eBay support via online chat and tell them that buyer was threatening You. They will check your chat records and will remove both negative feedback and Low DSR score. It's against eBay feedback rules to threat and buyer may face account suspension.

Can't guarantee that eBay won't force you to pay for return but it is better discuss it with their customer support. Be nice, explain them exactly what happened and there is good chance that they will decide in your favour.

    Good luck!

You're going to lose money, there's no real way around that. You offered free shipping to him, even if eBay is in a real good mood and charges him for return shipping, you're always going to be out the cost to get it to him.

I'm not 100% sure on FedEx, but I think he would have to refuse the package when it came. Since it's not a wrong address or anything like that and he opened the package I doubt FedEx would take it back.

I would just re-list the item when you get it back, tack on whatever you've lost on this deal. I have no clue what those watches go for at the moment but say you sold it for $100 and you lost $10, re-list it at $110. You might have a better time selling anyway as I've sold on eBay for quite some time and the trend seems to be if you're priced lowest, you'll get the asshole buyers.

since hes claiming not charging, he could have swapped the item for his broken one.. this item is certified geek squad smart watch and i believe those were carefully inspected before selling them so it shouldn't have problem...regardless though if what he says is true then i would honor it but since, he had intention of returning i would just believe that?? the item was never used..(but sold as refurbished)

Refer to this page and read carefully:
    Code:
    http://pages.ebay.com/help/sell/return-process.html

Some quotes from the same page are as follows. There are 2 different conditions for payment of return shipping charges. Which one belongs to your case?

    ~~ Quote
[h=3]Refunds[/h] Refund amounts are automatically adjusted for any restocking fees or shipping charges, depending on the reason for return.

When the item isn't as described:

If a buyer returns an item because it's not as described in the listing, arrives damaged, or is missing parts, then your refund to the buyer is:

In these situations, you're required to pay for the http://pages.ebay.com/help/sell/return-process.html#shipping-charges and you can't charge a restocking fee. If the buyer used http://pages.ebay.com/help/sell/return-process.html#alternative, you're expected to refund the buyer for those agreed-upon charges through PayPal or another payment method.

    All other returns:

If a buyer returns an item for any other reason, including deciding not to purchase the item after all, you keep any restocking fee specified in the listing Return policy. You can waive this fee, if you like.

In these situations, you can also keep the original shipping charge. The buyer pays for the http://pages.ebay.com/help/sell/return-process.html#shipping-charges, unless you specify in the Return policy section of the listing that you pay for return shipping charges.

For this type of return, in most cases the refund is the total purchase price, including item cost, sales tax and other charges, less:

    • Original shipping (at your discretion)

    • Restocking fee (if specified in the listing Return Policy)

    • Return shipping (if specified in the listing Return Policy)

Contact ebay. The buyer is clearly in the wrong here. If ebay does not rule in your favor, I will really be weary of selling on ebay.
