problem with domain, please help

hi guys. i have the following problem. i've been doing linking to http://www.domain.com for quite some time, but in searches it is always indexed as domain.com without www

In google webmaster tools and yahoo site explorer it seems that http://www.domain.com and domain.com are indexed separately . So what is the problem? And do my links to http://www.domain.com count for domain.com? As I can see in webmaster tools for http://www.domain.com it shows me 1000 links and for domain.com it shows me 5. Is there a difference? What should I do?

Setup a 301 redirect from domain.com to www.domain.com and the problem will be fixed - or vice versa.

www.domain.com and domain.com (and domain.com/index.html) are all different to google, because - in theory - they could be different, so instead of figuring out if they are different, Google just treats them as different.

This is a problem for ranking, because each version gets separate "link juice" - the totals don't add, so your PR will be lower. (instead of PR4, each version may have PR2, for example - although not that simple)

The new internet standard is to not use the www. -but- if you are already ranking so much better with it, then you should probably keep it, and re-direct the domain.com using 301, like the previous poster said.

If you are using a script for your website, something like wordpress or joomla or whatever, look up if there is a "canonical redirect" plugin you can use.

actually my rankings are on domain.com with 5-10 links and I have 1500 links on http://www.domain.com . Can I somehow transfer the link juice to the one without www ?

yes, its just a matter of preference, what url you want to use. just use .htaccess to setup the rewrite and 301 redirect to pass on the link juice.
