Problem with articles and seo

Good morning everyone,

I have the following problem and some questions that I’d like to share with you. I run a Greek-language blog site, which is very well-structured, and all of my articles in the SEO plugin have a rating of over 90%, with long content, internal links, and various other SEO features. However, there is an article about Netflix where I rank first, but it doesn’t generate much traffic, getting only about 4 clicks per day. Overall, I receive about 20 visits per day across all my articles. All of my posts are longer and of higher quality than my competitors’, yet I’m not seeing much growth in traffic.

I believe the main issue is the lack of backlinks. Even though I try to build links on my own through other websites and social media, it’s difficult to find backlinks from Greek websites or sites within my niche. Also, no news sites are likely to give me backlinks, as they consider my content as competition.

My question is: if I buy backlinks from a service, there’s a chance they will come from sites that have no relation to mine and will certainly not be Greek. Will this be beneficial or harmful to my site? It’s very important to me that my site doesn’t get flagged as spam or end up on a blacklist.

You're absolutely right! Google always favors relevant links. Reaching out to bloggers in your target region and actively participating in local social media groups and forums can be effective for building quality backlinks.

If you can't get links from language & niche-relevant websites,
Aim to get a mix from some foreign niche-relevant and local niche-irrelevant websites,

You can get links from foreign and niche-irrelevant websites and you'll get the link juice & authority to rank,
They're just better if they're a good option in terms of price/quality, etc... It is also more natural for any kind of website,

You can aim for some more natural links to add to the mix such as crowd links (both do-follow/nofollow),
Just make sure whatever type of link you're getting is within the least decent quality & worth for the price/value

Yassou! My parents just retired and live in Zakyntos! I lived in Greece with them as a child till we moved to Canada where I still live.

Anyways..

I have been doing this for 26 years now. At some point Long Form content was king. You know, like the recipe sites telling their magical story and adventure on how they found out about the secret ancient perfect egg boiling technique for that omelet recipe.

I once had a personal finance blog, that explained pay day loans in FRENCH. I had the top 10 spots for very high paying keywords and made between 15 and 100 $ in revenue from adsense. I was beating TRANSACTIONAL based websites.

Till the algorithms shifted, and my stories slowed down the reader's process, and the TRANSACTIONAL websites, calculators, and comparison sites beat me.

Now people just want ingredients and steps.

And AI SEARCH wants that as well.

So, I suggest you make your meta title and meta description, indicate that people will find quickly and exactly what they are looking for. Add a summary and bullet point answers and key points at the beginning of your articles.

Use semrush, even the few free uses you can do per day, to align your content with the "READERS INTENT".

If you are writing to an audience that takes their coffee and tea to bed, or wine and cheese, and can't wait to open your blog to spend an hour reading and discovering... Well then, this just means you need MORE RESEARCH, more data, more entertainment and more visceral story telling in your content.

Hope this doesn't disrupt your ambitions of getting great backlinks, but, it you think about it... this way you WILL get featured by other sites organically.

IF this is a real not scammy or dirty business, why not start documenting and letting people know what you do? Get featured by local media as an entrepreneur, buy another smaller website and merge it with yours and release a PRESS RELEASE and let the media know.

Are you sure that this keyword about Netflix has enough organic searches to attract more people than you are getting?

What is the site about? Irrelevant backlinks will not necessarily get you blacklisted, however, if you can't find relevant ones you'll have to use irrelevant.

I recommend to use Search Console a bit. You need to see what people are actually clicking and then double down on these queries to write some good content. You do not need many links to get good SEO rankings these days if you have the right content.

I would simply buy expired domain in greek language, setup one or two page, and give myself backlinks, this is strategy i do on my non-english sites, and it is giving me good results. Also try add content around low competition keywords

I have several domains like this from the Facebook era when we used to create news websites with AdSense, posting them on pages and getting hundreds of thousands of visits daily. Should I set up WordPress on them, add 10 articles, and make one of them link to my site where I want to place backlinks?

Yes that would be great, infact i am also using some of my old sites on different languages that got penalized, they still provide valuable DA juice

I get your concern about buying backlinks while relevant links are ideal, a mix of foreign or less relevant backlinks from trustworthy sites can still help. also targeting low-competition keywords and using expired Greek domains for backlinks could be a good strategy

This is the whole story. You already rank #1 for this keyword, but only get 4 clicks per day. You can't do better than #1, so you're capturing the vast majority of people who search this keyword. This means there's only like 4 to 8 people searching this keyword daily. So you'll never get more visitors, regardless of how many backlinks you obtain for your site. You need to do some keyword research and find higher search volume keywords related to your topic, and then edit your existing article to include these keywords. And probably add a few more posts focused on these keywords as well.
