Hi,
im an IT engineer so i have alot of experience changing ip addresses
im not sure what version of windows your using so ill assume its XP and give you some advice
firstly you need to check your current IP address
go to start - RUN - and in the box type in: CMD - press enter
a black window will appear
type in: IPCONFIG
this will give you your current IP settings
example ip address: 192.168.1.75
next press start - control panel - network configuration
it will open another window and you will see your network adapters
right click on your LOCAL AREA CONNECTION and press properties
a window will open, click / highlight: Internet protocol version 4 (IPV4) then press the properties button
you will see another window open and the fields will be greyed out
you want to select: Use the following IP Adress
you will see the options become available
now in the first field it says IP ADDRESS, im guessing you are on a home network
so you will need to make up the last 3 digits of your IP ADDRESS
we will use my example above: 192.168.1.75 and all we are going to do is change the 75 to another number
it can be anything above 1 but below 255
some devices may already be using IP ADDRESSes on your network so we will choose a higher number e.g 192.168.1.99
type your made up ip address into the field
go back to the CMD window and type in IPCONFIG /ALL
this will show you the current config for your whole computer
you want to look for this:
Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection:
Connection-specific DNS Suffix . : home
Description . . . . . . . . . . . :
Physical Address. . . . . . . . . :
DHCP Enabled. . . . . . . . . . . : Yes
Autoconfiguration Enabled . . . . : Yes
IPv4 Address. . . . . . . . . . . :
Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . :
Lease Obtained. . . . . . . . . . : 11 September 2013 10:43:00
Lease Expires . . . . . . . . . . : 12 September 2013 10:43:01
Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . :
DHCP Server . . . . . . . . . . . :
DNS Servers . . . . . . . . . . . :
NetBIOS over Tcpip. . . . . . . . : Enabled
it will give you your current subnet mask and your default gateway
copy the addresses and type them in the IPV4 window
example
IP ADDRESS: 192.168.1.99
SUBNET MASK: 255.255.255
DEFAULT GATEWAY: 192.168.1.1
press OK on all windows and your done!!
if you have problems and want to change back simply go back to the IPV4 window and click the option: OBTAIN IP ADDRESS AUTOMATICALLY
i hope this has helped you
btw you cant change the mac address of your machine as its a unique identifier for your hardware
however if you connected via WIFI instead of network adapter you will have a different mac address
