    Hey Guys,

So I'm trying to rank for keyword X

I'm #4 for my keyword, and in the SERPS it shows up as:

    TITLE
    DESCRIPTION
    mywebsite dot com

Now, I made 250+ backlinks to my site, but for some reason they only show relevance to:

    TITLE
    DESCRIPTION
    www dot mywebsite dot com

The difference is the folder with the www and the one without. I understand that SE's will read them differently, but how to I make it so that the 250+ backlinks for www dot mywebsite dot com work for mywebsite.com

    or even better:

How do i make www dot mywebsite dot com come up as a listing.

    I appreciate your time

Not exactly sure which way you are wanting to go.

You can set the display in G from within G webmaster tools.

Otherwise, the following will forward yourDomain . com to www . yourDomain . com

For the website, use a .htaccess file in the root public-html directory. Mine looks like:

    RewriteEngine On
    RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^yourDomain.com [NC]
    RewriteRule ^(.*) http://www.yourDomain.com/$1 [R=301,L]

The above will forward everything to www . yourdomain . com - you can reverse it to send everything to http // yourDomain .com

I continue and forward my index.php (you can do this for index.html also) to the www . yourDomain .com also:

    RewriteCond %{THE_REQUEST} ^[A-Z]{3,9}\ /([^/]+/)*index\.php\ HTTP/
    RewriteRule ^(([^/]+/)*)index\.php$ /$1 [R=301,L]

If you have index.html change php above to html...

    • Thanks Thanks x 2

if you´re on wordpress then go for the general settings and set it to the www version there. Can´t get any easier than this.

That sounds right but you'll have to try it to be sure...I don't run add on domains as I have a reseller account.
