Probably a very basic membership site question

So, I am starting to look into a WH membership site as a more stable long term type of income.
I have a few very basic type of questions (I searched first and couldn't find much). I downloaded membernaire but I am not too interested in a fixed term type membership.

How long do people typically stay a member with good content?

Say I want to post all my information once, instead of continuously updating. What would be a way of getting people to stay members?

If not, say with continuous content being added for a graphics design tutorial site. The members that sign up at the beginning will be much more advanced than newer members, so how do I accommodate the more advanced members without giving all the information out at once?

Sorry I know this is a lot of questions, but I can't seem to find much information anywhere.

Easy.... use one of the Wordpress membership plugins with graduated content delivery such as Wishlist.
After a certain number of days which you set new content becomes available ot the subscriber.

Member stay as long as you keep them interested, all depends on content and how well you communicate with them. On average 3mths. But in some cases 2-3years. It also depends on what tools you offer, if any. Example: you offer free hosting, then they are less likely to cancel as you hold the tools for the goldminer...

Member wishlist is a excellent pluggin, also enables you to have a set length membership, which means members are more likely to stay until the end,

KEY: offer large bonus for members that stay until the end. This works really well.

There are scripts that leak your information slowly as there membership continues.

I'd highly recommend you to look at aMember and whishlish and for the delivery you can have wordpress, forum (IPS or vB) or aweber.

Whishlist and Amember are both good. I like DAP though out of all of them. Especially how it handles graduated content and is super simple to use. I use it for both of my sites.
